SAVE THE RUDDY DUCKS

The government is planning a mass cull of the blue beaked Ruddy duck.

The ruddy duck, named after its chestnut plumage, was introduced to

Spain, mates with the native Spanish white-headed duck, which is

apparently becoming threatened due to cross breeding. The governments

solution to this?: Mass murder.

The 6,000 small fowl will be shot by government-paid marksmen because

they breed 'too successfully.'

According to the government, The mass slaughter will cost £5 million

and last six years.

Under pressure from the Spanish, the UK Government has already

carried out a limited cull of 2,500 ducks in three regions.

Their trial has been so successful the government now intends to

widen

the cull to kill the remaining 3,500 ducks that continue to live in

Britain's

lakes and reservoirs. There is no sound evidence to suggest that the

ducks in Spain are actualy migrating from Britain.

The government are also talking about 'compulsory access' to the land

of those who don't want anything to do with the cull, to get to the

ducks.

PLEASE sign this petition to help stop this outrageous mass

slaughter. We need to show the government that we will not tolerate

such barbaric measures, and put up with seeing our wildlife blasted.

There are other ways to deal with this, and these beautiful birds

shouldn't have to suffer, see each other suffer, slaughtered, for

something man has caused in the first place.

Yes, the ruddy duck has been persecuted too often in recent years. A

bit like badgers, which have been culled in their thousands in

Britain, because it was felt they gave TB to cattle. Its recently

been seen to be erroneous, but that won't bring the badgers back.
