Guest guest
Re: http://www.sltrib.com/2004/Jan/01262004/utah/utah.asp Salt Lake Tribune Editor, Owner, Publisher Cc: Utah and surrounding media; Utah government officials (some will be through website forms) Bcc: A few friends We were beyond disappointment Monday [today] with the Tribune's choice of featuring DCFS on the front page. The story they should have featured on the front page is the Thaxton family whose child was taken from them by the DCFS over charges of malnutrition by way of their 100% vegetarian/vegan diet. After Matthew was taken away, researcher and investigator Tom Rodgers, a former dairy man now turned vegan (no meat or dairy food products, parve), discovered the true smoking gun for this family's problem to be carbon monoxide poisoning. The furnace exhaust on the Thaxton home exited just 12 inches from the fresh air intake port into the home, in violation of HVAC code, which municipal, utility and state inspectors should have identified before clearing the home for purchase by the Thaxtons. The Thaxton's lost their first son, Dan Thaxton Jr., to this subtle carbon monoxide poisoning the year prior, and then Matthew Thaxton, who was in utero when Dan Jr. died, began to sicken the following winter as the furnace season commenced. In retrospect the culprit is now more than obvious; yet the State, and Primary Children's Medical Center as part of Intermountain Health Care, and DCFS continue to ignore the facts, and choose instead to continue to persecute and violate the Thaxton family for what is a flagrantly bogus claim that they have malnourished their children by their vegan diet. The truth is, PCMC failed to run a simple, inexpensive carboxyhemoglobin test that would have immediately identified the now most obvious and reasonable cause. This is now backed up by national medical and HVAC experts who have viewed this case. There are hundreds of healthy vegetarian/vegan families in Utah, including our own. How do you think this ignored breach of justice and error of medicine makes all of us feel? The prosecution should be going the other way. The stonewalling must end. Governor Walker said, " I don't want to see any DCFS bills come across my desk. " She used to work for DCFS. Now, during this time of heated controversy in the legislature, the Tribune does a feature story blessing DCFS, implying exoneration, when indictment should be the call. The Tribune profits substantially from Primary Children's Medical Center and IHC advertising. We smell cronyism. Our friends in Hollywood, all forms of media, and athletics; many of whom are vegan or vegetarian; are not amused. You can count on national and world attention from documentaries already in process, and a possible full-feature film coming out on this story; and it will not make the State of Utah, or the Governor, or the Legislature, or the IHC Medical Alliance, or the Utah Media cabal look good. As of the time of this writing, 600 people from accross the world have signed an online petition, most of whom say they are willing to support a class action suit against the DCFS and/or Children's Primary Medical Center for abuse. http://www.petitiononline.com/thaxton/petition.html Please get the story right. " DCFS is about to be taken to the cleaners. " Sincerely, Sterling D. Allan PatriotSaints.com/MyChildMyChoice 666 S. 60 E., Ephraim, UT 84627; 435-283-6340 Thomas L.
