The agreement between The HSUS and the Iams Company will bring the high-flying Iams Superdogs and other pet-related activities and exhibitors to Atlanta, Georgia; Columbus, Ohio; Dallas, Texas; Greenville, South Carolina; St. Paul, Minnesota; and Washington, D.C. for engagements at major entertainment venues between February and April as part of the inaugural Pet Fest America tour. The HSUS launched Pet Fest America in early 2003 to offer a premiere event for pet owners and anyone who cares about pets. The centerpiece of every Pet Fest America is entertainment by the Iams Superdogs, a troupe of agile and talented canines who put on a show filled with high jumps and lightning speed maneuvers set to lights and music. What makes the Iams Superdogs unique is that all the dogs are actually family pets (many adopted from shelters) and are handled by their owners. The Pet Fest America events will also feature booths and exhibits with everything from pet products to information on how to be a better caretaker for pets, and local animal shelters will be invited to be on hand with adoptable animals. More information on Pet Fest America, including a list of dates and show times, can be found here. The first Pet Fest America attracted more than 12,000 fans of all ages, and The Humane Society of the United States expects the next five events to be just as popular with anyone who cares about animals. What sets Pet Fest America apart from other pet shows, says producer Carroll Thrift, is The HSUS's involvement. " Pet Fest America and the Iams Superdogs get the audience cheering and laughing, " noted Thrift, " so it's obviously great entertainment, and because Pet Fest America is presented by The Humane Society of the United States, it's also an event with a mission, and the support of The Iams Company will allow us to reach a larger audience. And that's to make sure that everyone who walks through the doors goes home with a greater appreciation for their own pets, and for all animals. " The Iams Company sees Pet Fest America as a good match with their product and services. " The Iams Company is proud to sponsor Pet Fest America, " said Kurt Iverson, spokesperson for The Iams Company. " The Humane Society of the United States and Iams share a passion for enhancing the health and well-being of dogs and cats. Pet Fest America celebrates the special bond between people and their pets, and we're happy to be a part and provide the Iams Superdogs as a perfect example of pets at the top of their game.
