Storm's Raw Mountain Weekend Retreats (Raw Food Boot

Camp Retreats) are held one weekend each month in " The

Castle In The Forest " in Pine Mountain Club, CA with a

day-trip to Ojai, CA on Sunday of the retreat. The

retreat is led by Storm Talifero, a 30-year veteran of

the raw-vegan lifestyle who at 54 looks to be in his

30's. He is also known throughout the raw food

movement for having a remarkable raw-physique. He

attributes this to his tasty, simple but balanced raw

foods recipes and to exercise. He has designed a

workout program called " The Circular Workout " which is

taught at the boot camp and which balances the muscles

using your own weight to build muscle rather than

using weights which can cause un-natural body shaping.

 

The boot camp starts on Friday at noon. All meals are

100% raw-vegan made with 100% organic ingredients

only. Breakfast is fruit, lunch is the main meal and

dinner is a light meal. All meals are prepared as

demonstrations. Guests can choose to watch or

participate to get hands-on experience in the

preparation of meals.

 

On Friday when you arrive lunch is prepared and served

(fruit and fruit smoothies) and later dinner is

prepared and served (Sprout Salad followed after a

pause by Ginger Sun Tea). In between there is time to

get settled in. After dinner we do a short sunset hike

to the meadow to see the " evening snow " flowers (they

open only at sunset) followed by a relaxed informal

orientation and social time. (although this hidden

valley is just an hour and a half from Los Angeles you

may feel as though you are on retreat in the Swiss

Alps a hundred years ago!)

 

On Saturday we start off with the Circular Workout. We

then have breakfast (fresh orange juice and fruit

salad). After breakfast we do a mountain hike in the

National Forest. Upon our return we prepare lunch

(Tabouli salad, ~ delicious and rich in nutrients with

parsley and cilantro). In the afternoon Storm speaks

on Anti-Aging through Raw Foods. This is followed by a

light dinner (Raw Thai Lemon Coconut Soup).

 

Sunday morning after an early breakfast (Fresh Fruit)

we take a 1.5 hour drive to Ojai, CA to shop at the

farmer's market and do a vigorous hike and dip in a

mountain stream. On the hike we will forage for wild

foods for lunch. Wild foods are nutrient dense because

the soil in the wilderness is rich with minerals as it

has never been artificially or chemically cultivated,

unlike most of today's farmland. When we arrive back

in Pine Mountain Club Storm gives a talk on " Weight

Management with Raw Foods " about how to attain your

ideal weight through developing a raw-foods plan to

fit your lifestyle. Dinner with breaks in between

courses is prepared and served (Rawberry-Apple Pie,

Almond Milkshake, and Salsa and Jicama chips).

 

On Monday morning The Circular Workout is followed by

a durian (exotic Thai fruit) breakfast feast and a

final hike in the mountains. A parting Vegetable Juice

Cocktail is prepared and served. We check out at noon.
