Animal cruelty part of the psychology of domination

Bloodsports and acts of deliberate cruelty to animals are inextricably linked to

the psychology of domination ~ of Man dominating the planet and dominating his

fellows too ~ that is part and parcel of class society and capitalism. The Left

ignores this. It is trapped in a 19th & early 20th century timewarp of Marxist

verbiage which (unlike Marx!) sits politics and socialism in a neat little

vacuum, classing everything else as irrelevant. The cosmic perspective,

vegetarianism, animal rights, ecology etc., must be understood as part and

parcel of the class struggle and as essential ingredients in making the world

revolution.

Pleading for cruelty in the name of " tradition " and " cultural diversity " places

one hopelessly in the camp if reaction. Bullfighting, for instance, has the

support of the Catholic Church and its extreme right wing for a definite reason.

It is a ritual blood act which reinforces the Man-centred (God-centred) biblical

concept of Man as made in " God`s image " , and ritually demonstrates the

religious-fascist view of domination and victory, exploitation and triumph, over

others. The bull represents Satan, as all horned animals do, and is bloodily

butchered as part of this supremely reactionary ritual.

Freedom Press, the Anarchist publishers, showed this link (re-foxhunting and

hare-coursing)between class and special domination and exploitation in a superb

book: THE RICH AT PLAY. The socialists need to learn from this, and stop

poo-pooing animal rights and laughing at those of us who draw their attention to

the universal perspective that is essential for a true maker of revolution.

Watch this space to see the idiotic responses we can expect to this: mocking and

ridiculing it. The same conservatives and reactionaries who do this will, every

one of them, be a Leftist of some kind!

A.

Dear Anthony, You are completely correct. Thank you for your e-mail, so

well said. This type of material will be included in my class,

Christianity, Violence and Animals. Keep in touch. Elizabeth.
