Guest guest
Brenda, Drink pure water, get sunshine, get rid of chemicals in your house (at least put them in the garage), eat raw organic food, drink organic vegetable juices, fast (water only if you can), meditate on your symptoms. Stop taking all drugs. I eliminated most of my allergy symptoms in a few days just by giving up wheat. Mark - " Bren Antos " <brenant <RawSeattle > Friday, May 25, 2001 4:37 PM [RawSeattle] HELP!! Growing up, I was plagued by hay fever every spring. Since going vegan I have experienced little problem. Now raw, I recently had only very slight ichiness in my eyes. The bad pollen this year would explain that. Jeff
Guest guest
Brenda, I should have also said that if you are still eating dairy, that could also be a big culprit. The mucus it leaves in the body seems to aggravate allergies. I'd try giving up wheat and dairy for a week or so to see what happens. Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am seriously thinking about becoming a vegan. I just want to give up meats because I don't know what the big fuss is about not eating dairy or eggs etc so if you could help me out on that matter as well that would be fantastic. If you can tell me how to get started that would be great too. I am only 14 and not sure how my family will think about this. I am overweight so I am hoping changing my diet will help. Not to mention I read how they treat the horses, cows, and pigs at slaughter and was appalled I want to help stop supporting the treacherous acts they do to the animals and the PMU horses. Thanks for any and all help. Amanda
Guest guest
Hi Amanda; Giving up meat is a good start. As you learn more about the related issues, you may then decide to give up eggs and dairy too. That would be closer to actually being a " vegan " , someone who doesn't eat ANY animal products. If you avoid meat, but eat eggs and/or dairy, you'd more accurately be called a " vegetarian " . For a general starting place, how about having a look at all the neat stuff on www.vegsource.com Lots of information, contacts, options for discussion, etc. There's a discussion board specially for teens. I hope your family will be interested and supportive! Please let us know if they have problems, concerns or questions you need answers for... Guest guest
You can do a google search on the Union for Concerned Scientists and get plenty of data from the top scientists in the field. Also, you can buy a cheap soft cover book by Dr. Dean Ornish on the long term effects of eating a meat based diet. Use reason, and long term health benefits. Say you want to keep your arteries clean, avoid breast cancer, and problems with your digestive system. Never confront or try to tell them they should change too. Parents often get upset, so be gentle and loving. Offer to cook some vegetarian meals and that you will be glad to see your doctor to verify your health. The sad fact is, artery disease starts as a child, so you are doing a great thing. If we can help let us know. ajb1029 wrote: > Hi everyone, > I am seriously thinking about becoming a vegan.
