Pig Sanctuary in DESPERATE NEED OF HELP, hit by Hurricane Charley, Francis next!

A friend of mine in Florida was hit by hurricane Charley three weeks

ago. She and her husband take care of 150 rescued pigs and have a

sanctuary for them in Lake Wales, FL (approximately 75 miles

southwest of downtown Orlando). Her name is Darlynn and she needs

HELP. Another storm-Hurricane Francis is bearing down on them as I

write this. They haven't even recovered from Charley. They were

without power and phone for 8 days. Darlynn lost her job recently and

the income which paid the $1200/month feed bill for the pigs. They

have very little money right now and every bit of income they get

goes to the animals. They are very compassionate, self-sacrificing,

and hardworking folks who love these pigs very much. They aren't

getting any help from neighbors or locals to brace for the hurricane.

They live in a manufactured home and these kinds of homes are not

known for standing up to category anything (never mind category 4

hurricanes), and certainly not two in a row less than a month apart.

They don't have anywhere to take the pigs and themselves to safety.

 

They are very scared and discouraged. I told Darlynn I would post

this to try and get people to donate $5 or $10-whatever you can spare

for them and their rescued pigs. I am going to send $50 today to get

this going. Please donate to this worthy cause so they can rebuild

the pigs' homes and provide food and care for them after these

devastating storms.
