VOTE NO ON AMENDMENT 4

 

 

This November Florida voters can do the right thing by voting NO on Amendment 4,

which would legalize thousands of slot machines at greyhound tracks. If

successful, the Sunshine State experiment would create a blueprint for recovery

and a means for propping up dying racetracks nationwide. The fate of thousands

of greyhounds would be sealed in misery for decades to come.

 

*Every year thousands of dogs are killed when they are no longer fast enough to

be profitable. They are killed by a system that puts profits first and racing

animals last.

 

*While racing greyhounds face cruel treatment and neglect on a daily basis.

 

*Veterinary care varies from kennel to kennel while dogs are forced to perform

throughout the year, even on the hottest days of summer.

 

*They are individually caged for up to 22 hours and fed the cheapest meat

available.

 

*Thousands of greyhounds are seriously injured while competing every year.

 

*Thousands and thousands of young puppies are bred each year just to race.

Florida has more " farms " than any other state. Dogs who don't show ability

while training simply disappear from record.

 

*If Amendment 4 passes, millions of dollars in casino gambling profits will be

used to subsidize greyhound races. More dogs will be bred to supply this cruel

industry.

 

Every major animal protection group, including the Humane Society of the United

States and GREY2K, is opposed to Amendment 4 because it would prop up a cruel

industry. With your help, we can defeat Amendment 4 and send a powerful message

to the dog racing industry that their cruelty will not be rewarded!
