wolves & turkeys

Hey, guys; I have a relative who is NOT a vegetarian, who keeps sending me stuff

about how awful it is that they're killing wolves. Now, of course, I agree that

it's awful, but it irks me that she's not concerned about the torture and death

of the animals she eats. Any thoughts on a good piece to pass on to her

(w/Thanksgiving coming up, something about turkeys would be particularly

appropriate)?

-Thanks,

Amy

Amy,

What you have is a germ of someone caring about animals. I would start

by exploring their interest in wolves,

agreeing with them. Wolves are magnificent animals.

Then you might talk about wild turkeys. How in the wild they were so

respected by Ben Franklin for

their intelligence, tenacity and other great attributes. Find

information about wild turkeys.

Then compare them to what a manufactured turkey is and let them come to

their own conclusion.

I recommend not pushing, people embrace an idea when they think it their

own.

Thanks. I passed along the PETA stuff, and she said she's seriously considering

it.
