Guest guest
Over 100 Goats to be Culled <http://www.keeponfighting.net/index.php?topic=Action_Alerts> Lynton Town Council have just voted to cull all except 30 of the wild goats from the Valley of the Rocks near Exmoor. This is likely to be over 100 goats. The goats are perfectly healthy - the pathetic excuse for killing them is that they enter peoples' gardens and the cemetery and eat the flowers. With proper fencing this would not be a problem. Last year 9 goats were killed by a marksman secretly at the crack of dawn. Local people found out about it when the bloodstains were discovered on the grass the following day. This year it is set to be a massacre on a much larger scale. English Nature have recommended 28 days notice before killing the goats, however this may well be ignored. So this disgusting cull could take place any time from tomorrow onwards. Please take the time to contact the following people ASAP to register your outrage at the planned cull: - Lynton and Lynmouth Council - 01598 752384 - Parish Clerk - G. R Dwyer - 01598 752384 - The Town Hall, Lynton, North Devon, EX35 6HT - itc <itc - North Devon District Councillor (from Lynton) - John Travis - 01598 752498, john_travis <john_travis Points to make could include: - The goats play an important role in grazing. - They are a tourist asset. - Money should be spent on fencing off areas and 'cattle style' grids to keep out the goats rather than killing them. Please also contact the tourist information in Lynton on 01598 752225. You could tell them as a visitor to Lynton you love seeing the goats, without them the unique character of the Valley of the Rocks would be lost and you intend to reconsider visiting Lynton again if the cull occurs.
