Guest guest
(if any of you are heading to the Montreal area, check out Le Commensal, an all-vegetarian cafeteria type chain. My carnivorous friend recommended it! http://www.frommers.com/destinations/montreal/D32972.html) Commensal is indeed a convenient veg option. My veg sister and I were staying just a few blocks from the downtown one on a visit to Montreal last December; we must have eaten at Commensal at last 5 times! However, I wanted to add the eg restaurant worth going out of one's way for in Montreal: RESTAURANT CHUCHAI 4088 St. Denis St. Montreal, PQ Canada Phone: 514-843-4194 Chuchai is a predominately vegan Thai/pan-Asian restaurant, with a large menu filled with so many unusual items, you'll be sorry you can't sample everything. Guest guest
Just a reminder, Le Commensal is a very popular vegetarian place, with quite a few locations in and around Quebec, but, most items there are not vegan, and they don't list full ingredients on the items. --- " Shelley M. Guest guest
I have to disagree. There were many vegan items, and they were coded with a special symbol for vegan. When I was uncertain about one salad, the staff were very helpful. Plus, even eating there a number of times over a few days, I still had a lot to choose from. The weakness is the desserts, with only 1 vegan pastry , on average. BTW, my brother just came back form Montreal where he and his veggie wife had what they described as an incredible meal at ChuChai, which was in my orignal reccommendation.
