Guest guest
Hello all, I bet most of you have eaten Quorn products by now, and know your reaction to them, but for those who don't, here's a warning. I experienced severe food poisoning after eating Quorn cutlets. In fact, I had it not once, but three times, and then again a year and a half later. WHy did I keep eating it? Because I didn't know which food item from my day had caused it. And I really didn't believe it was the Quorn. It was frozen and I cooked it well, so it wasnt' spoiled (at least not after I bought it). And people were telling me that food poisoning can occur within a few hours, or may take as much as 12 hours, so I was thinking about breakfast and lunch and blaming it on other things. It wasn't until the third time and an expensive trip to the emergency room (my only choice late at night) that I knew. THere was nothing else that had been consistent in my diet for the previous bouts. And almost two years after that, just a couple of weeks ago at a Thanksgiving cooking demo at a WIld Oats, they made their " turkey and stuffing " dish with two different styles. One was made wtih seitan and one with quorn, because, as the cook mentioned, the quorn can make people sick. (She didn't say " how " sick). Unfortunately, my boyfriend mixed the two as he brought them back to the table. I only ate a couple of bites before recognizing the quorn. Later, I'd forgotten about it until I started to feel the ensuing nausea. It lingered about a half hour until I decided to just force myself to vomit in order to avoid a much more miserable experience that would last me through the night. Just wanted to warn anyone who might be considering eating this. It's still on the market everywhere I look, so it must not affect many people this way, or I'm sure they'd have taken it off. However, it sure felt like I was dying after I ate it. _______________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! Guest guest
Hi, I've not had the same problem with Quorn products, but stopped eating it because it is not vegan. Maybe you could try contacting the company with your experiences and find out what ingredient might be causing the sickness. That sounds miserable.
