'Ital is Vital' in Jamaica

A trip to Negril, Jamaica, makes me realize the difference between

being vegetarian-friendly and culturally dependent on vegetarian cuisine.

Vegetarians come to this lush island for its unique " Ital " cuisine.

No, this is not short for Italian cooking. Instead, " Ital " cuisine is

the vegetarian cooking of the Rastafarians, a very important

subculture on the island.
