we are trying to create a veggie world.

That means of course getting more people to become aware of the need

to go veggie.

And what about the veggies who are out there already?

Well I want to tell you a personal story about that. My late father

was a veggie when he was younger, but he married a carnivore. As a

result I was raised as a carnivore, though I can recall my late

father eating vegetable plates at diners we would go to so he could

get them and eating vegetarian Chinese food at Chinese restuarants

we would go to so he could get that food. At long last he finally

gave up and ended his vegetarianism.

Though he live to what some consider to be " a ripe old age " I am

convinced that had he remained a veggie he would still be alive. He

has been dead for some years now.

What all of that means of course is that we need to make sure that

veggies marry veggies and that they raise their children as veggies.

So the need for single veggie organizations is enormous.

NJSingleVegetarians/

Subscribe: NJSingleVegetarians-

It was certainly good fortune that I became a veggie myself quite

awhile ago but many children of these so-called " veg/carnivore "

or " mixed-marriages " are not quite so lucky and end up as non-

veggies.

I am also of course promoting the veggie way of life to others who

are not yet veggies.

One key group to promote the veggie way of life to is science

fiction fans. Why science fiction fans? Well because some science

fiction fans actually become science fiction writers.

Why science fiction writers then? Well because the way of life that

we take for granted here in the so-called " first world " , of

industrialized nations is a way of life that not so long ago

was considered to be science fiction. It was a science fiction

writer: Arthur C. Clarke, who

came up with the idea of communications satellites as a science

fiction idea.

Well they are fiction no more. Nor are communications devices that

do not require wires.

Remember the " communicators " on StarTrek? Chances are you have a

cell phone in your pocket or in your car, or if you don't you know

more than one person who does.

Once again, fiction no more. Fact.

The science fiction fan of today is the science fiction writer of

tomorrow.

The science fiction story or idea of today is the fact of tomorrow,

just as yesterday's science fiction stories and ideas are the facts

of today.

Another place I am helping to promote the veggie way of life is in

the Jewish community.

I happen to be Jewish and would want nothing but the best way of

life there is for my fellow Jews. Eating animals is not only not

good for the animals who are murdered for food, it is not good for

the humans who eat them.

Being veggie is also very much in the interests of the Jewish

community around the world.

Producing a pound of steak " protein " on the plate requires up to 21

pounds of so-called

" feed " protein from things like the 42% of American wheat

production, the 86% of American corn, oats and barley production,

the 90% of non-exported soybean production, that goes into the

creation of that pound of steak " protein " on the plate of the

American animal eater.

Producing all of that so-called " feed " requires a lot of energy.

More energy is used

as petro-chemical based fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, etc.

as well as in the transportation of that so-called " feed " , and of

the animals themselves, in the disposal of their wastes, in the

movement of water to irrigate those crops and to " water " those

animals.

Many of the energy sources involved are nations around the world

that supply arms to terrorists who slaughter Jews in Israel and

around the world, as well as other innocents, such as those who were

slaughtered on September 11th. 2001.

So I am promoting Jewish singles events at veggie establishments to

bring the fact of being able to have a veggie meal as a reality to

my fellow Jews.

I do so periodically at Veggie Heaven, a Kosher Vegan Chinese

Restaurant with several locations here in New Jersey. I hope that

similar restaurants exist elsewhere that may serve as event

locations. Failing that I hope that vegan house parties can be

arranged everywhere.

If you are Jewish yourself I hope that you will do the same wherever

you may be.

If you are able to come to some of these events I hope that you will

do so.

If you live to far away to get to them by all means create them.

Create them for your fellow Jews if you are Jewish.

Create them for your fellow veggies if you are veggie.

Create them for science fiction fans if you want to see science

fiction fans become veggie and science fiction ideas created by

veggie science fiction writers, all of whom start off as science

fiction fans creating the new facts of life on earth as ones which

will make it possible for a veggie world to in fact come into being.

Will you help in these effforts?

Do you have a Jewish single friend that you have not yet met in

person and may have been in touch with via email or telephone or

otherwise Why not invite that Jewish single friend to meet you at

one of the many Jewish singles events listed in our posts

Be sure to send your photo to your Jewish single friend, and to ask

your Jewish single friend to send a photo to you.

That way you can recognize one another when you meet at a Jewish

singles event.

Wants you! Our Science Fiction group is for everyone 21 or older

regardless of background or marital status. Younger fans should find

another group. Please introduce yourself when you join and

periodically as

new members keep joining. We plan to get together at restaurants and

to go

to movies. We will see them in movie theaters, and, if people are kind

enough, on people's home VCRs, or DVD

players, for the technologically advanced among us. Buy your own

movie

tickets. Buy your own meals at

Restaurants. Hopefully a typical event would involve going to a

Science

Fiction Movie and then to a Restaurant to discuss the movie we just

saw.

Are you a single Science Fiction fan looking for a soulmate? Perhaps

you

will find that person here. This club is not a New Jersey singles

group per se,

and is open to anyone over 21, regardless of background or marital

status,

nonetheless, love is a

good thing. In the parts of New Jersey where the

science fiction clubs we know of operate there is also a

very high percentage of Jewish residents. Many science fiction fans

and

science fiction writers and even science fiction stars, like Leonard

Nimoy,

(Mr. Spock), of Star Trek, and William Shatner (Captain Kirk), of

Star

Trek, also happen to be Jewish. Most science fiction fans I know are

single

men, and many of them, at least in places like New Jersey, are

Jewish.

Many science fiction fans in New Jersey also happen to be Jewish.

Most

science fiction fans are male. For the single Jewish woman in New

Jersey

joining a science fiction group may be the ideal way to find her

ideal man.

Unlike most singles events, which tend to be attended by more women

than

men, most science fiction events are attended by more men than women.

c-span, also known as C-SPAN provides much valuable information.

However, we are

distressed that programs like

Washington Journal on c-span seem to provide a forum for

anti-Semites and enemies of Israel and the Jewish people in

general who seem to not only call into that t.v. show, but get

through, and get

on the air, where they are seldom interupted or cut off by the show's

moderators. We feel that a 2 minute delay could enable the show's

moderators to

screen out the anti-Semites and enemies of Israel and the Jewish

people, however

no such 2 minute delay seems to be in place. Moreover the moderators

of that

show and others do not seem to be of a mind to cut off the anti-

Semites and

other enemies of Israel and the Jewish people in general who

regularly call into

that show and others

on c-span. We have therefore created this in the hopes

that members

regularly to

Washington Journal and other c-span call in t.v. shows, to support

Israel and

the Jewish people and to counter the anti-Semites and other enemies

There are many avenues for Jewish activism. Support of Israel,

Support of the Jewish people, Opposition to anti-Semitism, to name a

few.

We believe that it is vital for Jewish survival that single Jews

meet other single Jews, marry one another, and raise their children

as Jews. Because there is a hole in our calendar from Friday night

to Saturday night during which many single Jews go to non-Jewish

singles events, meet non-Jews, marry non-Jews, and have children

from those marriages who are not raised as Jews, the Jewish people

faces a very severe problem. We urge everyone who reads this to

contact his or her Rabbi and demand that his or her Rabbi hold

regular Jewish singles Onegs on Friday nights.

We feel that it is vitally important that single Jews go to Jewish

singles events and meet other Jewish singles at those events.

If you know anyone who happens to be Jewish who is hosting a

ZOA Opposes Sale Of Sophisticated Bombs To Saudi Arabia

April 20, 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Contact: Morton A. Klein, 212-481-1500

New York - The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has written to

President George W. Bush strongly opposing the sale of new satellite-

guided Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) bombs to Saudi Arabia, a

country which lavishes funds on Islamist institutions disseminating

hatred of Jews and other non-Muslims and rewards suicide bombers who

murder Israelis. In the letter, signed by National President Morton

A. Klein, Chairman of the Board Dr. Michael Goldblatt, Chairman of

the Executive Committee Dr. Alan Mazurek and Treasurer Henry

Schwartz, the ZOA stated that " selling sophisticated high-tech

weaponry to Saudi Arabia will seriously reduce Israel's qualitative

military superiority over Arab states that do not accept her

existence, which the United States is pledged to uphold and is

therefore inconsistent with both American and Israeli interests. "

The news of this intended sale was announced by Defense Secretary

Robert Gates during his recent visit to Israel. A recent discussion

in Washington raised the possibility that Jerusalem would ask the US

not to sell the satellite-guided smart bombs to the Saudis, but it

was decided to reject this request (Haaretz, April 20).

Saudi Arabia recently threatened Israel with war if it failed to

agree to the terms of the 2002 so-called Arab Peace Initiative. The

Saudi Foreign Minister, Saud al-Faisal, said last month that " It has

never been proven that reaching out to Israel achieves anything …

[if Israel does not agree to the offer, it will be placing its

future] in the hands of the lords of war " ( Washington Times, March

29).

Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz expressed Israel's opposition

to the sale of the weapons to Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf

states during his visit to the US a few weeks ago. Peretz said

Israel was concerned that the weapons might fall into terrorist

hands as well as undermine the regional balance of power. The JDAM

bombs possess a special tail kit that allows a target's location to

be fed to the system by satellite, which can also be done by

computer during flight. The computer determines the best moment for

the pilot to release the bomb. Pilots and other experts say this

type of bomb " can be aimed through a window " ( Haaretz, April 20).

ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said, " Saudi Arabia's record

in funding and disseminating Islamist hate ideology worldwide and

its support for terrorist groups that murder Israelis is something

for which it has never been held to account. At a bare minimum,

therefore, it is incumbent upon the United States to withhold

advanced technology that would affect the military balance between

Israel and the Arab states. Saudi Arabia has not behaved like a US

ally that deserves this level of support and friendship from the

United States. Moreover, no-one has suggested that Saudi Arabia is

likely to be attacked by Iran or needs it for its legitimate self-

defense. That being the case, why are we selling these weapons to

Riyadh?

" To proceed with this sale in effect simply tells the Saudis that we

believe that their policies and conduct are satisfactory and that

they need make no move towards fulfilling their commitments to

America as an ally. In this context, it is worth noting that Saudi

Arabia lied in November 2005 to the US in promising to drop its

economic boycott of Israel, something which it has actually admitted

to have continued since that date. Proceeding with this sale

essentially tells the Saudis that they will not be held accountable

for their words and deeds and also decreases Israeli security, which

both the Bush Administration and the Congress have pledged to

uphold. "

ZOA Helps Trigger Pace Univ.'s Changed Stance -- Showing Of Anti-

Radical Islam Film Allowed

April 20, 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Contact: Morton A. Klein, 212-481-1500

New York - New York's Pace University apologized to members of the

university's Jewish community after the Zionist Organization of

America (ZOA) and others complained that the Pace administration had

threatened and intimidated Hillel members into cancelling a showing

of the documentary, " Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the

West, " after Muslim students objected to it. In addition, after

these complaints to the university, Hillel was finally permitted to

screen the film at Pace, without the university's interference, on

Wednesday, April 18, 2007.

" Obsession " chronicles the influence of radical Islam in the Middle

East. It has been shown on dozens of campuses and other venues

across North America, and has contributed to an understanding of

this serious problem. Hillel had originally scheduled the screening

for November 16, 2006, during Hillel's Jewish Awareness Week, and

had followed university procedure for showing the film.

On or about October 23, 2006, Hillel gave Pace University's Muslim

Students Association (MSA) notice of the upcoming screening,

although it was under no obligation to do so. Hillel invited the MSA

to collaborate in presenting the event, and to participate on a

panel after the film to discuss the important issues it raised.

The MSA did not respond to Hillel's overture. But the Hillel's

president began hearing rumors that a university dean was going to

prevent the film from being shown. At a meeting with administrators

initiated by the Hillel president, a dean gestured toward the two

Hillel students at the meeting and threatened them that if they went

ahead and showed the film, the police might begin to look into their

personal records. (There had been several hate incidents on campus,

including some that involved the Koran, and the implication was that

the Hillel students might be considered suspects). Because of these

threats, Hillel did not show the film on November 16, 2006.

When the administration's conduct toward Hillel received public

attention, the Pace administration issued a public statement on

January 10, 2007 -- entitled " Pace University Statement on Hillel

Charges " -- to every member of the campus community and posted the

statement on the Pace Web site. The statement personally attacked

Hillel and its president, questioning his honesty and credibility

and repeatedly noting that the Hillel president had " misconstrued "

the university's intentions. The statement also urged members of the

community to " feel free to share this statement with others. "

Troubled by the administration's actions, which were threatening,

intimidating and creating a hostile environment for Jewish students

at Pace, the ZOA took action. Susan Tuchman, the Director of the

ZOA's Center for Law and Justice, wrote a detailed letter to David

A. Caputo, the President of Pace University, criticizing the

university's conduct and alleging a possible violation of Pace's

obligation to provide Jewish students with an educational

environment free from harassment, intimidation and discrimination,

as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The ZOA

letter chastised Pace for its " bullying " conduct, and urged the

university to " take immediate remedial action, " including issuing a

public apology to the Pace Hillel and its representatives,

permanently removing the offensive public statement from the Pace

Web site, and issuing a public statement affirming Hillel's right to

show " Obsession. "

After receipt of the ZOA letter, Pace removed the offensive

statement from its Web site. Additional communications between Pace

and the ZOA followed, including a telephone call from Pace President

Caputo to Susan Tuchman, which resulted in a conversation between

them about the issues in dispute. On March 26, 2007, President

Caputo issued a public statement to the members of the university

community. In the statement, President Caputo " assured [members of

Pace's Jewish community] that no … coercion or intimidation was

intended, " and " apologize[d] for any action that may have

unfortunately led to that belief. I also want to apologize for any

hurt we may have caused [the Hillel president] and other members of

Hillel in issuing the University Statement on Hillel Charges in

January. "

President Caputo's apology statement was posted on the Pace Web site

and also e-mailed to the Pace community. It also noted that

Obsession was scheduled to be shown on campus. The screening took

place on Wednesday, April 18, 2007, without incident.

The ZOA's National President, Morton A. Klein, commended the Jewish

students at Pace for not bowing to coercion and intimidation. " These

students were in effect threatened because they wanted to show a

film about radical Islam. And then they were threatened because they

had the courage to stand up for their right to show the film. We

congratulate them on their courage and perseverance in achieving

such a favorable result. "

Susan Tuchman, the Director of the ZOA's Center for Law and Justice,

commended Pace University for resolving matters without the need for

legal action. " President Caputo has made a commitment to making Pace

a welcoming place for all, regardless of race religion, ethnicity

and gender. The public apology and the university's cooperation in

the showing of the film last Wednesday have gone a long way in

healing the hurt that many Jewish students felt as a result of the

administration's actions. "

The president of Hillel at Pace thanked those who helped achieve

these results. He said, " The continued efforts of Susan B. Tuchman,

Esq. from the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) have been of

tremendous help. The legal advice that was continuously provided

before and after the incident went public and the legal pressure

that was placed on the Pace administration have resulted in great

rewards. "

The radical Islamist fascist imperialist terrorism threat to

civilization is

recognized by many more people today than in the past.

The threat to civilization posed by arab racism should be recognized

as well.

The core thesis of arab Baathist racism is that there is a

single " arab nation " with

no borders stretching at least from Morocco to Iraq and other arab

parts of the Persian Gulf

such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Gulf States, including the United

Arab Emirates, etc.

In fact, when Saddam invaded " Iran " he declared that the oil rich

section of " Iran " known

as Abadan was arab as well. There is of course no Israel anywhere

within that single

" arab nation " , which sees all national borders as " colonialist " .

Today the Baath Party

under the Assad family still rules in Syria. Syria does not call its

emissary to Lebanon

an Ambassador, the Syrians call him a " Governor " , because Syria sees

Lebanon, and

Jordan and Israel, including Judea and Samaria, (misnamed the so-

called " West Bank " ), and Gaza, and the Golan Heights, from which

Syria can shell and invade Israel with ease if Syria ever regains

possession of the Golan Heights, as part of Greater Syria and the

Syrian Baathists, like the Iraqi Baathists, are trying to create a

single arab nation from the Atlantic Ocean to the Persian Gulf.

Under the late Saddam Hussein's Baath Party in Iraq

things like this went on:

" Death Squads Behead Suspected Prostitutes Iraqi

guerrillas, with the support of President Saddam Hussein, are

attacking and beheading women and girls suspected of prostitution,

the

Bahrain Tribune reports. The group leading the anti-prostitution

campaign is allegedly headed by Uday Hussein, the son of the Iraqi

president. The Tribune cites a report in the Arabic al-Hayat

newspaper that claims the effort was launched to reduce

prostitution.. The

beheadings, which reportedly occur in front of the accuseds home,

have been attended by members of the ruling Baath Party and the Iraqi

Federation of Women. Victims have also included men alleged to have

served as pimps or family members who have purportedly condoned the

womens behavior. One traveler reported that at least 50 people have

been beheaded in Baghdad so far (Bahrain Tribune, 30 Oct). "

While Saddam Hussein and his sons are dead, the Baath Party in Iraq

has many

former members who would like to regain power in Iraq. In

neighboring Syria,which is

allied with " Iran " (renamed " Iran " , which literally means " Land of

The Aryans " during

the nazi era when Persians decided to ally themselves with Hitler),

the Baath Party under the Assad family remains in power.

there things like this have gone on:

" October 1983 (according to a report in The Jerusalem Post), Syrian

television showed 16-year-old girls-trainees in the Syrian Ba'ath

Party

militia-fondling live snakes as President Hafez Assad and other

Syrian leaders looked on approvingly. Martial music reached a

crescendo as

the girls suddenly bit the snakes with their teeth, repeatedly tore

off flesh and spat it out as blood ran down their chins. As the

leaders applauded, the girls then attached the snakes to sticks and

grilled

them over the fire, eating them triumphantly. After this, militiamen

" strangled puppies and drank their blood. " Such demonstrations are

clearly intended to send a message to the regime's domestic

opponents. " http://www.danielpipes.org/articles/198607.shtml

" French Jewish groups say they will file a lawsuit against Mr Assad

for inciting racial hatred when he accused Jews last month of having

betrayed Jesus. "

Republic of Fear The Inside Story of Saddam's Iraq by Samir

al Khalil Pantheon Books, New York 1989 ISBN 0-679-73502-X

" Saddam...inherited from his uncle an admiration for Nazi

principles...he was attracted to the ideas of the Ba'ath nationalist

movement. The movement had been established in Damascus in 1943 "

(when Syria was a French colony and Hitler ruled France) " by two

Syrians, Greek Orthodox Christian Michel A'flaq and Sunni Muslim

Salah al-Bitar. Their philosophy was based on the ideology of German

national socialism " (Nazism) " and on Italian fascism. " Page 199

" After the Ba'ath Party came to power in February 1963...Saddam was

promoted into the Regional Command Council and it was soon found

that this was his metier. He was put in charge of a special force

responsible for terror and assassination and was an interrogator and

torturer in the Qasr al-Nihayyat (`The Palace of the End').

Eyewitnesses say Saddam excelled in creating new methods and

revealed a sadistically inventive mind. He designed new instruments

of torture and then experimentd with them on his victims. ...By the

summer of 1963, Saddam was urging the party to put him in charge of

creating a special security apparatus modelled on the Nazi SS. This

was the Jihaz Haneen....following nationalisation of banks and

certain foreign companies in 1964, the Ba'ath Party instructed

Saddam to assassinate the president Abd al-Salam Arif. The proposed

assassination was designed to trigger off another Ba'ath coup.

Critics say it was a plan on behalf of the CIA but according to some

Ba'athist defectors the CIA did not have direct contact with the

Ba'ath itself but with army officers who were co-ordinating a joint

coup with the party. The main contact with the Americans was Iraq's

own ambassador in Washington, Dr. Nasser al-Hanni. " Pages 201-203

" The second part of the plot was carried out by the Jihaz

Haneen...Members of the Iraqi Jewish community...were...arrested.

Eleven of them were among the first fourteen `spies' to be pubicly

hanged on 27th January 1969....The public hangings turned into a

national holiday with live television and radio coverage, and the

Ba'ath Party organized the transport of some hundred

thousand `workers and peasants' from outside Baghdad to join

in...Families picknicked under trees while watching the hangings.

This public orgy of death went on for twenty-four hours... " Page 206

" Compare the January 1969 show trial with another spectacle

organized by the first Ba'thi regime in 1963 and designed to counter

the continuing popularity of the ousted president, `Abd al-Karim

Qassem, among certain sectors of the Shi'ite population of Baghdad.

In the first week of the coup, the citizens of al-Thawra, a suburb

of Baghdad, had fought the army and Ba'thist militia in some of the

bloodiest street battles in the history of the country. They refused

to believe that Qassem had been overthrown....The Ba'ath...dealt

with this emotive imagery by televising a lengthy film clip

displaying Qassem's bullet-ridden corpse. Night after night, they

made their gruesome point. The body was propped up on a chair in the

studio. A soldier sauntered around, handling its parts. The camera

would cut to scenes of devastation at the Ministry of Defence where

Qassem had made his last stand. There, on location, it lingered on

the mutilated corpses of Qassem's entourage...Back to the studio,

and close-ups now of the entry and exit points of each bullet hole.

The whole macabre sequence closes with a scene that must forever

remain etched on the memory of all those who saw it: the soldier

grabbing the lolling head by the hair, came right up close, and spat

full face into it. The fear that the Ba'th were trying to instill in

this and other instances was brutally direct. The centuries-old

message was simple: he is dead, you had better believe it, we can do

the same to you. The fact that it was on television extended its

reach... " Pages 58-59.

Upcoming Activities - Independence Day

Upcoming Activities

YOM HAATZMAUT (Israel Independence Day)

Dear Friends,

The Pessach holiday is behind us, Yom Haatzmaut (Israel Independence

Day) is right before us, immediately followed by the celebrations of

the fortieth year of our historic return to all of Jerusalem, Judea,

Samaria, Gaza and the Golan Heights.

A journalist called us, asking: " How do you in Women in Green and in

the national camp, plan on celebrating Yom Haatzmaut? And he

added: " How do you relate to the concept of the State of Israel

after the expulsion from Gush Katif and Northern Shomron? "

We answered him as follows: Obviously, the entire national camp will

not give the same answer. Different people have different opinions.

I am sure that I am speaking for many people when I say that we make

a big differentiation between the spiritual concept of the State of

Israel and the concept of the Government of Israel. In the Bible we

learn that the People of Israel often had very bad kings as leaders.

When that happened, the people worked to change the kings, but never

talked about abolishing the concept of kingdom.

That is how many of us feel today, as well. On Yom Haatzmaut we, of

course, celebrate the miracle of the creation of the State of

Israel, but simultaneously we declare that we fiercely oppose the

Government of Israel. In fact, we have the most ludicrous situation

in which the Government of Israel is a direct threat to the survival

of the State of Israel as a Jewish State!!

The Olmert Government is endangering the very existence of Israel by

agreeing to give away even more of our Biblical Homeland to the Arab

enemy. Enemies, internal and external, are seeking to undermine the

Jewish People's very right to its G-d given Biblical homeland.

Therefore, the best way to celebrate Israel's Independence Day is by

strengthening the settlement enterprise in Judea and Samaria, and by

spending the day in those areas that this anti-Jewish Government

wants to abandon. This will pass on a clear message to the world:

the entire Land of Israel belongs to the People of Israel, based on

the Torah of Israel, and no one, not even a majority in the

government or in the Knesset, is allowed to give it away.

Women in Green are therefore calling upon all to choose between two

major events that will, please G-d, take place on Yom Haatzmaut:

1) In Samaria: A march to CHOMESH (see details below)

2) In Judea: A march to the EITAM HILL in Efrat (see details below)

Both events are organized by the different extra parliamentary-

2) JUDEA- FAMILY DAY ON THE EITAM HILL IN EFRAT

A reminder:

* The Eitam Hill is Efrat's largest hill. It is Efrat's last

reserve, where young couples can build their homes. At present, the

hill is still not inhabited, but plans call to build, with G-d's

help, 2,500 housing units on it. The Arabs already have an eye on

the hill with intention of taking it over, unless we act immediately.

* The fact that the Eitam Hill is not planned for inclusion within

the fence (and, hopefully, our efforts to stop the construction of

the ghetto- fence will be successful, and there will not be any

fence) teaches that the authorities intend, G-d forbid, to abandon

the hill to the Arabs. Being that the hill commands all approaches

in the area, it would be strategic suicide for this hill to fall

into enemy hands.

* In 1995, as part of the Oslo II accords, the Rabin government

relinquished another hill in Efrat, the Dagan Hill. The Dagan Hill

was not inhabited, and the government intended to transfer the hill

to the PLO Authority. A group of residents from Efrat and Gush

Etzion understood that they had to act to change this decision. They

settled on the hill, where they remained for about two weeks.

Although the government eventually forcibly evacuated them, the hill

entered the public's consciousness, and with a great deal of divine

help, it remained in our hands. Today, thank G-d, the hill has

become an Efrat neighborhood in which families live, and in which

Torah is studied in the yeshivah.

NOW WE MUST SAVE THE EITAM HILL!

This Yom Haatzmaut, which falls on Tuesday, April 24, 2007, we will

all go up to the Eitam Hill, where we will spend the day, getting to

know the hill and preparing for the next phase, in which, with G-d's

help, we will soon settle the hill as part of the renewal of Jewish

settlement. Young couples and families, proudly and with full faith,

will move to different hills throughout Judea and Samaria, to settle

them and to build new settlements in Eretz Yisrael.

Details for participating:

Families, youth, and children will meet on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.

next to the junior high school (ha-hativah) in Zayit. We will march

from there to the Eitam Hill (a march of approximately 50 minutes).

Vehicles will shuttle those who have difficulty walking, and will

bring everyone's picnic supplies and barbecues.

Each family is to bring water, food, walking shoes, the fixings for

a picnic/barbecue, and a lot of high spirits!

The program: Greetings by rabbis and public figures and activities

for the entire family. In short, a day of love of Eretz Yisrael in a

breathtaking location! With G-d's help, this will be the first step

in settling the hill and the assembly of its inhabitants.

There is a very relevant blessing in Tanach (Numbers 13:30):

" Let us by all means go up, and we shall gain possession of it, for

we shall surely overcome it " !

WOMEN FOR ISRAEL'S TOMORROW

WOMEN IN GREEN

WHO WE ARE

Women for Israel's Tomorrow (Women in Green) is a rapidly growing

grassroots women's movement -- grandmothers, mothers, wives, and

daughters; housewives and professionals; secular and religious --

all bound together by a shared love, devotion and concern for

Israel. We are not affiliated with, nor do we support, any

particular political party. We have chapters throughout Israel and

abroad, including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Toronto. We

also have many men among our supporters.

In existence only since late 1993, the Women for Israel's Tomorrow,

a registered non-profit organization, has accomplished a great deal.

In addition to weekly street theater and public demonstrations, we

write weekly articles, commission posters, advertise in newspapers,

and lecture to groups in order to educate the electorate on the

consequences of certain government policies, such as abandoning the

Golan Heights for an illusory promise of peace, and pandering to

Arafat, without requiring him to live up to his obligations under

the Oslo Accords. We insist that Israel remain a Jewish state. We

are actively and intimately connected with the fight to preserve a

united Jerusalem. We support and encourage the brave Jewish

community in the ancient city of Hebron, and sponsor annual Hanukkah

and Purim parties with gifts and professional entertainment for the

isolated Jewish children in that community.

Our movement is dedicated to the security and Jewish heritage of

historic Israel, and we are outspoken in support of our cause. We

are popularly known as the " Women in Green " because of the green

hats we wear.

A leading Hebrew newspaper, Maariv, has described us as " the most

authentic and exciting popular resistance movement to have arisen

here (in Israel) in the last few years " .

Directions to meeting site:

Saddle River Valley Cultural Center

305 West Saddle River

Upper Saddle River

Bergen County, New Jersey

The Cultural Center looks like (but is not) a classic

little white church, steeple and all. The parking lot

is not too large, but it's okay to use the much bigger

lot of the Methodist Church diagonally across the

street.

Important Note: The Cultural Center is on WEST Saddle

River Road. One block further over is EAST Saddle

River Road. Unlike streets in New York, East does not

turn into West. The roads are on opposite banks of

the Saddle River which is nothing more than a stream

at this point.

FROM ROUTE 17 NORTHBOUND:

Exit ROUTE 17 NORTH at the sign which reads SADDLE

RIVER / WOODCLIFF LAKE. (This is the exit after

Sheridan Avenue, Ho Ho Kus.) This exit puts you onto

EAST ALLENDALE AVENUE heading East. Stay on road for

about 1/2 mile and turn left at the first traffic

light onto WEST SADDLE RIVER ROAD. Drive north for

1-3/4 miles. Shortly after passing a brick Catholic

Church, the Church of the Presentation, on your left

hand side you cross into Upper Saddle River. The

Cultural Center is on your left hand side. If you

come to a traffic light you have slightly overshot and

hit LAKE STREET.

Note: You will see a sign marked WEST SADDLE RIVER

ROAD on Route 17 northbound well to the south of where

you have been told to leave 17. If you take this

exit, you will eventually get where you want to be,

but it will take you a lot longer to get there.

FROM ROUTE 17 SOUTHBOUND:

Exit ROUTE 17 SOUTH at SADDLE RIVER / WOODCLIFF LAKE

exit. This puts you onto EAST ALLENDALE ROAD heading

East. You drive under the highway. Then follow the

directions from Route 17 Northbound.

Note: This way takes you a little bit longer than the

exit for UPPER SADDLE RIVER, but it spares you making

hairpin turns on steep hills at night in bad weather

on an unfamiliar road.

FROM THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY NORTHBOUND:

Take Exit 172, GRAND AVENUE, MONTVALE. (This is the

last exit in New Jersey and is just past the Montvale

Service Area). Turn left at the exit ramp and head

west on GRAND AVENUE. There are a lot of small towns

in this area, and the road that you're on will keep

changing its name. At different points it is called

GRAND AVENUE, MONTVALE ROAD, RAMSEY ROAD and LAKE

STREET. At the second traffic light you will be at

the intersection of LAKE STREET and EAST SADDLE RIVER

ROAD. It has two landmarks that anyone in the area

will know about: a 7-11 type store called Elmers and

a Texaco station. Keep driving west. Do not turn.

Turn left at the next traffic light onto WEST SADDLE

RIVER ROAD. The Cultural Center is 1/10 of a mile

down the road on your right.

FROM ROCKLAND COUNTY VIA ROUTE 59:

Follow ROUTE 59 until you come to Norris Pontiac in

Monsey and turn south at the traffic light unto ROUTE

306. This road is also called EAST SADDLE RIVER

ROAD. Head south towards New Jersey. (Note:

Although the maps show this road as Route 306, and

that's what everyone calls it, after you make the

turn, the sign reads ROUTE 73. Don't ask me to

explain it.) Stay on ROUTE 306 for 2.3 miles Note

that there is a long stretch between the first and

second traffic lights.

Turn right at the second traffic light which is the

intersection of EAST SADDLE RIVER ROAD and LAKE

STREET. A Texaco station and Elmers are at this

corner. Proceed west and turn left at the next

traffic light onto WEST SADDLE RIVER ROAD. The

Cultural Center is 1/10 of a mile down the road on

your right.

Please note that we maintain separate email reminder

lists for all of the monthly activities of the

Association. If you would like to be added to any or

all of these lists, please contact the Science Fiction Association of
