restaurant ideas for visiting, omnivorous parent?

I am looking for ideas for places to eat (primarily dinner) out with my SO's

90-year old father who will be visiting next week, preferably not extravagantly

priced East Bay (Oakland/Emeryville/Berkeley, possibly Contra Costa county

areas). He does not have an adventurous palate ( read: no Mexican/Indian/pure

veg. Asian); we are 1 vegan and 1 vegetarian. As I can research restaurants

myself on-line, I am less interested in lists of restaurants and more in

recommendations from vegans who have had positive experiences with older,

omnivorous relatives.

TIA,

Shelley

I know you said no pure veg Asian, but I have to say that I have had

positive feedback from non-veg people of all ages when I take them to,

or bring in food from, Golden Lotus in Oakland. I have taken people of

all ages to the restaurant. Also, I serve their food for Christmas Eve

every year, and my non-veg family can't get enough. (That includes my

92 year-old mother.) Some favorites are: Imperial Rolls,

Mongolian 'Beef', Carmelized 'Chicken', Veggie Fu Young, 'Chicken'

Salad, Sauteed Garlic 'Beef', Wonton Soup.
