Guest guest
I have found that in the past the obstacles to a vegetarian diet have been: 1. Boredom - no variety. Get into a rut with a limited " repertoire. " 2. Lack of preparedness. Vegan/vegetarian diets call for thinking ahead. For years I suffered from depression and anxiety (talk about swings - yikes!). When I felt this way, I was either in no mood to " think " or no mood to " wait " . Either of these can severely impact the attitude needed for this lifestyle. 3. The budinskis we live with. It's only taken my scientiest-nutritionist too-smart-for-his-own-good husband almost 20 years of marriage to finally realize the wisdom of this lifestyle. (And 20 years of Rose Milktoast to finally not care). 4. Low blood sugar. I have to deal with low blood sugar which, I feel, the longer I stay on this diet, the better and more manageable it will be. However, LBS affects mood; mood affects attitude; attitude ended up as " oh, why bother " and then in comes the ice cream, the nachos, the remote, and click, click, munch, munch. 5. All or nothing at all. A kind of self-sabotaging faux perfectionism. If it can't be done right, or if I slip up, then " all is lost. " Instead of acknowledging the few diversions, calming-to-center, and then moving on, I'd throw baby out with the bathwater and munch, munch, click, click. Anybody else have obstacles to share?
