Guest guest
Does anybody have any earth friendly cleaning or building products they would like to share about? I'm changing over to better things with some success. The laundry disks still had our shirts smelling like bo, even if I used a cloth with essential oil on it in the dryer. I still have them, and they have not been used that much. They are my second pair. I'm starting to use borax. If there any good books about earth friendly products or info about the household products you use or have tried, please pass it along. It is hard to decipher thru all the advertising hype to see what really works. Thanks for advance for any input you might care to offer. There are several brands of earth friendly/phosphate free laundry detergent and cleaning supplies, check out your nearest natural food store. For scrubbing sinks and such I use baking soda, works like a charm. You can add washing soda to the laundry to boost the soap. Jan
Guest guest
Jan, Thanks for the shopping idea. I'm making a trip to the healthfood store (25 mi!) this week. I haven't been there in months, cuz my kids were out of school. My 8yo daughter wants another serving of her oatmeal/tofu loaf now. I didn't have tofu, so I mashed up some soybeans with the cooking water instead. It makes a nice stiff loaf and is delicious with barbeque sauce. My 14yo son was helping me make it and asked me to save him some. I'm happy to finally have made something the kids like that is vegan, too! Gratefully, Maureen
Guest guest
You are welcome, Seventh Generation is only one of many brands available locally in my part of the world. There is a chlorine bleach-free laundry whitener, too, it is based on hydrogen peroxide. I have printed out the recipe and plan to make it soon, even bought ketchup with is rare at my house! Guest guest
Glad the loaf recipe worked for you, Maureen. I'm hoping to have a vegetarian food tasting party sometime for my meat-eating friends to show them that veg food can taste good. Have any of you tried that or know of anyone who has? Of course, some of my friends think they've had plenty of veggies if they have a lettuce leaf on their hamburger, so I may have trouble convincing them to show up for a veg tasting party. The craisin corn muffins sound great, Jan. Jane
