Here's some quick easy nutritious/delicious and lowfat/nofat pie crust ideas:

1) a high fiber cereal such as Trader Joes " high fiber cereal " only $1.79 a

box and is low sodium/sugar and fat is what is naturally found in the grains

1.5 cups cereal

1/4 cups canned pumpkin puree (such as ShariAnn's Organic Pumpkin)

just mash together and put in a lightly oiled pie pan or a non stick pie

pan-if making a nobake pie then bake crust for about 10minutes at 350

otherwise just fill with filling

2) same as above using Post Grape Nut ceareal

3) instead of pumpkin- use applesauce or apple concentrate or pureed

sweetpotatoe and maybe even bananas

4) or how about 2 cups rolled oats

you must pre-cook this pie crust before adding filling

also 1/2 cup sweetner (like maple syrup) and

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

(just so it will taste less like oatmeal)

5) although I havent tried it, I believe a variety of purees such as banana

would be a great substitute (if no purees then a healthy oil such as olive

or flax oil crust)

6) a non fat whole wheat tortilla makes a great crust (if it tears the

filling rewets it and it sticks back together! ( I like this for a dinner

crust such as a tofu quish)

7) you can roll out a crust (cookie dough for cookie cutters make great

crust)

8) flour and water and sweetener can make great crusts, too!

9) instead of oatmeal any flaked grain such as kamut will work

10) this is yummy and the fat is the good kind of oils--crushed nuts (such as

pecans) and dates make a great raw crust! so does ground nut powder and maple

syrups (maybe a little bit of dehydrating )

--------

things like pumpkin puree or apple sauce or bananas makes great fat and egg

substitutes for cooking!

I love dessert! a great dessert book is " Sweet and Natural " by meredith

mccarty
