Guest guest
~~ We have enslaved the rest of animal creation and have treated our distant cousins in fur and feathers so badly that beyond doubt, if they were to formulate a religion, they would depict the Devil in human form. " William Ralph Inge~~ > " blue honey " <bluehoney > Re: strict vegan Andy, I also mess up and eat some dairy now and then, of course I try not to but I am not perfect, even though I tell everyone I am. : ) I think the thing is with the shoes is you don't go out and buy more leather shoes, I have tennis shoes that were given to me many moons ago but I refuse to go buy more. I think for me I could not wear the leather coat and only because I have such a big mouth that everyone I know would say what the heck are you doing wearing that tortured cow coat..hehe..and then I would have to go into this two month explanation on it, and besides my kids would have a fit, where as the shoes they kind of overlook cause they have about two oz of leather. Not that that is ok but like I said I would never buy. I guess many may have a problem with this cause that would be like eating meat as long as you didn't buy it but in my mind its ok and that's all I have to justify it to. > Nice quote, I like that. Well I think in that case we have to give our self some slack, when we (my 7 and 8 year old) became vegans we found this vegan butter if you will, and we ate it like for a month and then one day I just happened to look at the package and I saw whey and about died. My kids were so disappointed in themselves, but I tried to explain that we will try to do our best and it was a mistake, one of many I am sure we will make but as long as we learn from it and try not to make the same mistake again. > There was a month or so when I would only eat fruit and nuts. I still have the gut feeling that the article was 100% accurate, > but a fruit and nut only diet is kind of fruity and nutty here in Dallas TX > (where there is a BBQ restaurant every mile). > > -andy Well I can understand that cause I live in Tennessee and we have the same about every 1/2 mile. I am the outsider in my community but if fitting in means torturing other living things then I don't want to fit in. I feel guilty even killing a tick but when its stuck to my body sucking my blood what choice do I have...I guess I can only do the best that I can do and I try to improve every day. I know I love driving down the highway and looking at the fields of cows and knowing that I will not be the one who will have a part in their death, but in the same breath I know they will all die for those who have not reached my level of compassion...jeez my halo is shinning bright tonight..hehe Tammy : )
