Guest guest
Hello again! Thanks to everyone offering vegan mayo options. I totally forgot about Nayonaise - which I had tried before and hated. I looked for Veganaise at Trader Joe's, but all they had was " soynaise, " so I got it. I'll report back if it's any good, but I still want to find that veganaise, because Best Foods mayo was always my fav. Does anyone know of a good vegan chinese cookbook? I took a chinese cooking class and got some *killer* recipes for hot & sour soup and potstickers that are easily adapted to vegan eating (not to mention YUMMY!). I also got a recipe for chinese chicken salad that's aching for a good chicken substitute (tofu maybe??) Anyone have suggestions? I also stir-fry veggies (traditional asian types) and serve over noodles, etc., but it lacks that authentic chinese-restaurant flavor. Anyone know what I mean? Just looking for any comments or suggestions.... Thanks! Juli PS - I can post the soup & potsticker recipes if anyone's interested. Yeah, I know what you mean. I've been dying all day for some General Tso's chicken. I don't so much like the chicken (not that I would eat it anymore anyway), just that lovely spicy sauce. What you're probably missing is all of the MSG. > PS - I can post the soup & potsticker recipes if > anyone's interested. > Pretty, Pretty, Pleeeeeaaaase, with a cherry on top! : ) Tammy
Guest guest
I can recommend Ken Hom's 'Vegetarian Chinese Cookery'. This isn't entirely Vegan (it includes eggs in some dishes), but apart from the recipes, also talks about principles of Chinese cooking and about putting together menus. ======================== Dave Harbud
Guest guest
Hey, thanks Dave! I'll give it a shot! ~ Juli PS - Turns out soynaise was more like miracle whip than best foods.... My bf doctored it up with sundried tomatoes, chopped pinenuts & fresh parsley (guess that's what was in the fridge!) and it came out OK for a spread on veggie sandos. **I'll post the potsticker/hot & sour soup recipes tomorrow. --- David Harbud <dharbud wrote: > I can recommend Ken Hom's 'Vegetarian Chinese > Cookery'..... > Dave Harbud > Send instant messages & get email alerts with Messenger. http://im./
Guest guest
Nayonnaise must be for those of us who were more mustard lovers. I like it because it doesn't taste like mayo. Never been a mayo fan myself. Maureen - Juli Jacobsen <jewelster33 vegan Wednesday, May 17, 2000 1:12 PM chinese recipes/cookbook > Hello again! > > Thanks to everyone offering vegan mayo options. Guest guest
Just bought some white wave 5 grain tempeh for first time. Thought I might add it to stir fry. I steam it, tho and might need to add barbeque sauce or something for flavor, since there's not going to be any oil, unless I decide to use my new wok.
