I think I'd like that 800 number. :) Tell us what the name of the product

is and maybe a few of us can call and find out about this amazing rice with

cholesterol in it.

Let us know what you find out about the cholesterol in the rice. Should be

interesting! Maybe they have the details hidden in ultra-fine print on the

package. It's scary, you just can't trust the food companies.

This amazing rice is grown and distributed by Specialty Rice Marketing. The

product is called " Della Gourmet Rice - An Exquisite Grain " and the type of

rice is Aromatic American Basmati Brown Rice. The phone # is

1-800-467-1233.

The woman told me that she always believed that no plant product had

cholesterol in it either until a woman called with the same question. So,

she " looked it up in a biology book...not that she is a biologist or

anything...and she found out that the bran has lipids in it and the

cholesterol is in the lipids. " I wish I had asked her what her name was and

what biology book she got her info from.

Please let me know what kind of a response you all get.

I think the person you spoke with doesn't have a clue! Cholesterol is made

by animals, human animals make it in our bodies, plants do not manufacture

cholesterol.

I've been told, usually by hard-core carnivores, that there is cholesterol

and other-bad-for-you stuff in fruits, vegs, and grains, but they are usually

just desparate to validate their food choices.

They try to equate the fat in avocados to the fat in beef. In an otherwise

fat-free diet, avocados are a great choice for alittle fat in your diet.

Anyhow, I can't imagine that whatever is in the rice is the same as the

cholesterol in a steak.

It was my understanding that there is no cholesterol in plant foods, but

there is fat which our bodies convert to cholesterol.
