They just reformulated their yogurt to include live cultures (which they assure me are grown on soy cultures) and they have lots of great flavors. We use soy milk for cooking and enriched vanilla rice milk on cereal and for drinking. It is quite a bit sweeter and lighter than soy milk. My daughter, who is 5, loves beans, pasta, fruit, Smart dogs, carrots dipped in peanut butter, silken tofu (especially whipped up with a little soy milk and fruit) and good ol' peanut butter and jelly. Cheese is a little more difficult to find substitutes for but Tofutti has just come out with a pretty nice mozzarella slice. We also like the Soymage brands. Many of the soy cheese have casein, a milk protein, so we avoid those. Good luck! Caroline
Guest guest
My 14 month old loves dips like hummus, almond butter, or a silken tofu " sour cream " type of dip. Marinated tofu is a big hit with her too. Of course, we eat a lot of beans. She especially loves homemade baked beans. For a yogurt-y smoothie, try blending some silken tofu with banannas, juice (I use calcium fortified OJ) or soy milk, some vitamin fortified soy protein powder if I remember, and frozen fruit. Pasta with TVP sauce or tofu stuffed shells is another favorite. Good luck! Linda _______________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Guest guest
Thanks for the help Laura! I have been eating vegetarian but as calorie cutting goes I just watch portion sizes and try to stay on the low end of number of servings from the US Food Pyramid. I was walking about 6 miles a day for 5 months now I have moved onto a running routine. Starting off with 1 mile and working up to 6. For exercises I am doing sit ups and pushups. I will take your advice and add some more ab routines. Also, I will up my fruit and veggies to raise my calorie level. I am now keeping a history of my measurements in my food diary so I can get a better view of any changes. Thanks again for your help!
