Guest guest
Hello everyone, My name is TIti (it's really Theresa, but no one calls me that.) I am a 20 year old college student who has been a vegetarian for 6 years (about that anyway). My reason for joing the list is that I will soon be getting an apartment of my own ( now more campus food, YAY!!) and moving in with my meat eating boyfriend. He's a big guy and requires constant shovelfuls of food. he's also overweight. I need some hefty recipes that would satisfy a big meat-man (and me too). Once I start cooking for myself (end of May) I promise to send many recipes. Guest guest
Hi everyone, I just joined the group yesterday, so I'll introduce myself as well. My name is Dawn. I live in Chicago, IL and I'm 26 years old. I am a vegetarian allergic to dairy, which puts me basically on a vegan diet. (I do eat honey often and eggs once in a blue moon, so I'm not a strict vegan). I love vegan cuisine when it's prepared well. I've been a veggie for 8 years now. My boyfriend and I are both veggies and we love to cook. I hope to share some of our inventions soon. We just made a great shepard's pie the other night. I will post that soon. Any other rs in Chicago, give me a holler. Cheers, Dawn , " theresa b " <trinithree@h...> wrote: > > > Hello everyone, > My name is TIti (it's really Theresa, but no one calls me that.) Guest guest
Hi Titi, My boyfriends a meat eater too but he'll eat my vegan stuff too. Infact, just the other day when we ate out, he traded his fave Green Curry with chicken for the vegetable one because he said it has more variety of taste and texture! He's also one of the only meat eaters I know that will eat chilli made with soya mince. Good luck with your move and finding stuff that you both like to eat! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, it can be such a hassle cooking 2 seperate meals, not to mention the washing up! ) Jenny --- theresa b <trinithree wrote: > > > Hello everyone, > My name is TIti (it's really Theresa, but no one > calls me that.) Guest guest
Hi Dawn, I live in Chicago eight months out of the year as I am a student at Loyola. But my permanent home is in Portage, IN, so I'm really close. I've been vegan since last June. I do most of my own cooking because I don't have enough money to eat out in Chicago a lot. Do you have any good restaurants to recommend? Robyn
Guest guest
Hi there ! I'm never really sure what to type in these things...so here goes. (This is kind of my "form" introduction that I send out to new lists I join *grin*) I found this list through some heavy-duty searching for parents like me, and I'm so happy I did! Always nice to find folks of a like mind! We live on a small 2-acre patch of land out in Kentucky. Our family consists of my husband, twins girls, age 5, 3 cats, a dog, a garden eating deer and me. We are working to create a little healing center/garden area for the community. Right now we are feeding the local deer population and all their travelin' cousins. The "big" thing for us is finding in-person community. I love the internet for its ability to connect people, but when it comes to actually meeting folks, it sometimes falls short. The county that we live in has a bit of "history," and we are often seen as the "city folk" or outsiders. We laugh at the fact that we are "those hippies that live down the way." When not doing the mommy thing, I'm an artist and writer. I'm finally getting brave enough to start sending some slides of my stuff off to galleries (wish me luck *grin*). I write a magazine called Community Mother, and it focuses on the "crunchy" aspect of parenting. I'm a midwife (lay midwife, not taking clients right now *grin*) and herbalist. I'm one of those folks that like using crystals and alternative therapies. Or, as a friend of mine say, "you are an Earth momma for sure." (hee hee) I love to knit and make all kinds of strange DIY crafts. My house is chock full of barterable (is that a word) items! I'm a radical metaphysical hippy chic with a flair for oddity. My musical inspiration ranges from Ani DiFranco to Ella Fitzgerald to Mozart to Haitian VooDoo chants. I'm into alternative everything (which, at times can pit myself against myself *grin*). We don't eat as organic as I would like to, but we do have a bit old garden that is currently feeding the 3 deer (updated that we used to have one, but now have three--can you tell that I'm all a 'dither about the deer eating our garden). My sense of humor is very wabi sabi. Also, I can be very shy (if you can believe that). Even though I'm a prolific posting person out here in land, I'm very shy in person. Guess that is about it! Guest guest
Hello, My name is Sumayyah and I have been vegetarian for five years! Up until now, eggs, fish and very little dairy have been a regular part of our diet, but now I am slowly trying to phase that out by replacing it with yummy vegan recipes. For the most part, I and my daughter have very little desire to eat fish and I have decided to eliminate dairy from our diets. I look forward to learning from you all and sharing what I have found as well. Sumayyah
