Hi Lisa,

I used to live there. You may do well at the Buffets in some of the major

casinos. They usually have a good salad bar with lots of fruits and veggies

and many buffets have different ethic cuisines throughout, you can usually

get the Asian section to make you a vegan stir fry. My favorite place to

eat was the Mediterranean Cafe on the Southwest corner of Maryland Parkway

(about 3 blocks east of the Strip) and Flamingo. For a great, quick falafel

pita, I liked the House of Kabob on the southeast corner of Maryland Parkway

and Flamingo. If you are in a bind, and not opposed to a little fast food,

Del Taco beans are vegan, but their rice is not. For fast food, it is

pretty healthy and you can find them anywhere. A lot of the casinos also

have some pretty decent Italian or Chinese restaurants, you can usually get

something vegan there. Vegas is all about the money, so there aren't many

little independent restaurants, but the casino food is okay. Since I left,

I heard there was a good raw foods restaurant on Flamingo somewhere east of

the strip like near Pecos, but I'm not sure where. Be prepared to see lots

of advertisements for prime rib and lobster deals and you'll see lots of

unhealthy people and tons of smokers. But it is a fun place. Are you going

to visit or to live there? Let me know how your experience went.

Hope this helps a little,

Linda

Kyndra,

Welcome to the list. Glad to have you with us. To help with a local

raw food support group try talking to the folks at Raw Truth. I'm

sure you're familiar with them. I've eaten there when in Las Vegas.

They should have contacts for local raw foodists and groups.

For others on the list looking for local support groups, try this

link: http://www.livingnutrition.com/potlucks.html

Just look up your state. There's nothing listed for Nevada (sorry!)

Jeff

Sara...you still on here????

hey shari...

there's at least person on this list who lives in vegas "Shari" Apr 21, 2005 12:18 PM Las Vegas Next week I'm going to be a vegan in Vegas and was wondering if anyone knew of any places that did vegan food particularly on or near the Strip. I've done a bit of searching online and it seems pretty poor with any vegetarian cafes being a few miles away. I'm only gonna be there a couple of days and won't have a car so will be right on the Strip for most of the time (or at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino). I read that some places do a 'veggieburger' but would these be vegan? Any info much appreciated.<3Shari Black Velvet To send an email to -
