Guest guest
Ok, I'm getting a little stressed about this and I'm hoping someone on this list has had experience....I am getting my two remaining amalgams removed (for those of you not aware, " silver " amalgam dental fillings contain 50% mercury which leaches out and can cause illness in over 90% of people with these fillings), and I keep reading that in order for my body to detox all the remaining mercury out of my tissues, I need to be on a high protein diet. I've read from various experts in amalgam removal and dentistry, that a vegetarian diet doesn't work and it is only the amino acids from animal products that the mercury will bind with and be released from the body. Apparently, vegetarians don't improve (from their symptoms) after amalgam removal, according to Dr. Huggins. Of course, to make things more confusing, I've also read that a high-fiber diet is also important. I'm not at all thrilled that I need to eat animal proteins to heal from this mercury toxicity. You are supposed to eat meat and eggs and butter, not milk or cheese. Has anyone on this list gone through amalgam removal and stayed on a vegan diet? Did you improve? Does anyone at least know of anyone that has remained vegan during the mercury detox and did ok? I hope this isn't off topic. I've tried to ask on dental lists and few responses I got told me they were on high (animal) protein diets. Yuck! Thanks very much for any help or references you can give! Guest guest
Rhonda, I too was just getting concerned over my 2 fillings that are silver!! Maybe you can email me privately and share the lists that you are on wit me ?? About the amino acids, I bet that you can get plenty from plant based diets and not with animal products. YOu can get tons from soy, soy protien shakes, soy flour, beans bean flour, and lots of other things too! I would not go back to eating animals as the sickness you can get from taht is far worse than what you might have presently. I am sure that you can detox with plants, just maybe slower. What symptoms are you having of mercury toxicity? Thanks, Jo-Ann
Guest guest
I will ring this health place on the Sunshine coast for you guys today... they encourage a vegan lifestyle for health and provide cleansing courses for a wide range of illnesses.. I have heard of people with cancers being completely healed etc after going to this place.. I have heard them mention this type of process that you are talking about in their articles.. so I will give them a call and find out what they use... As far as soy goes, I would worry about the recent controversy about it interfering with enzymes. If I wasn't mercury toxic I might not pay much attention to this, but since I'm needing to detox and mercury plays a big part in messing up your enzymes, I don't want to take a chance with it right now. I do occassionally have a smoothy with soy milk, but dont' want to rely on it too much as a form of amino acids. Rhonda
Guest guest
You are so right Rhonda, this is mercury poisoning you are talking about. Quite different than having a little too much silver or magnesium in your body! If the doctors have told you to eat meat, I don't think anyone on this list would dis-respect you for eating some eggs and cheese for the next few months in order to save your life. The truth of the matter is: it won't kill you to go off your vegan diet for a few months. It may if you don't! If you still feel so strongly against eating any meat or dairy, then please tell your doctor that you have decided so. Your doctor can work with you on a different plan, and that should be the person to give you advice. Although everyone on this list has the best of intentions, we are not your doctor and shouldn't try to tell you what to do when your health and life are at risk. Make sure that you let your doctor know what your intentions are. Don't lie or try to trick him/her into thinking that you are really eating meat if you aren't! A Dr. Yoshiaki Omura discovered almost by accident that the leaves of the coriander plant can accelerate the excretion of mercury, lead and aluminum from the body. He performed a study in which three amalgam fillings were removed from an individual using all the precautions available to prevent absorption of the mercury from the amalgam. Significant amounts were later found in the individual's lungs, kidneys, endocrine organs, liver and heart. There was no mercury in these tissues prior to the amalgam removal. Remarkably, without the help of any chelation agents, cilantro was able to remove the mercury in two to three weeks. (AcupunctElectrother Res 96;21(2):133-60) Recipe for Cilantro Pesto (Make that "Chelation Pesto") 1 Clove garlic 1/2 cup almonds, cashews, or other nuts 1 cup packed fresh cilantro leaves 2 tablespoons lemon juice 6 tablespoons olive oil Put the cilantro and olive oil in blender and process until thecilantro is chopped. Add the rest of the ingredients and processto a lumpy paste. (You may need to add a touch of hot water andscrape the sides of the blender.) You can change the consistency by altering the amount of olive oil and lemon juice, but keep the 3:1 ratio of oil to juice. (It freezes well, so you can makeseveral batches at once. He recommends a couple of teaspoons a day for two to three weeks once or twice a year.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Recipe #2CORIANDER CHELATION PESTO 4 cloves of garlic 1/3 cup Brazil nuts (selenium) 1/3 cup sunflower seeds (cysteine) 1/3 cup pumpkin seeds (zinc, magnesium) 2 cups packed fresh coriander (cilantro, Chinese parsley)(Vitamin A) 2/3 cup flaxseed oil (Barleans preferably) 4 Tbs. lemon juice (Vit. C) 2 tsp dulse powderBraggs or Japanese Miso(I would prefer to leave out the dulse and Miso and add Real Salt) Process the coriander and flaxseed oil in a blender until the coriander is chopped. Add the garlic, nuts and seeds, dulse and lemon juice and mix until the mixture is finely blended into a paste. Add a squirt of Braggs liquid Aminos (or salt, etc.) to taste and blend again. Store in dark glass jars if possible. It freezes well, so purchase enough coriander in season and fill enough jars to last through the year.Combined with the benefits of the other ingredients, this recipe is a powerful tissue cleanser. Two teaspoons of this Pesto daily for 3 weeks is purportedly enough to increase the urinary excretion of mercury, lead and aluminum, thus effectively removing these toxic metals from our bodies. We can consider this cleanse for 3 weeks at least once a year. It is delicious on toast, baked potatoes and pasta. I really don't want to add animal products back into my diet, but if I have to I suppose a few eggs won't hurt me for awhile and beans and grains should give me enough protein too. Oh, and I shouldn't forget nuts and seeds! I will let my dentist know about my " special " diet. Thanks again for everyone's help. Guest guest
Thanks very much for this information and recipes! I have just recently read that cilantro (coriander) is very good for removing mercury from the body. Hopefully this means I don't need the high-protein animal diet that others are eating during detox. Take care, Rhonda > I have this I think you will find very interesting......I don't want to tell > you what to do, but if it was me, I'd not do the high protein diet.....that > just doesn't make sense to me from what I know of nutrition, but of course > I'm not a Dr.......read this and see what you think....the recipes follow: > > > This is from an article found in the newsletter " Alternative " dated June, > 1998. Guest guest
Thanks, Fern. I'm getting them out the end of next month so I will let you know how the detoxing on a vegetarian diet goes. Rhonda P.S. Sorry to everyone for clogging up the list so much with all my questions lately. Please let me know if I should respond to people privately instead of on-list.
