Guest guest
Here's my 2 cents worth LOL...any ways, I became a vegan 2 months ago and my daughter is 4 months old, so I have something to compare which is nice I breastfeed her exclusively and when I became vegan her stools totally changed. It is very very common and normal for a breastfed baby to have poop that is described even in medical books as " yellow seedy mustard " . Once I became Vegan, the " seeds " disappeaed!! I can only imaging that the seeds were curdled milk from the cows milk I was drinking!! How do you like that!! I might as well have given her a cow boobie to drink from! I know, a little drastic, but still, the milk I drank affected her a lot more than i realized! As for nutrition, I would not rely on soy products for too much. They are nice to have around, but I wouldnt recommend eating anything every meal, every day. a couple cups of soy milk or other calcium, folate, B12 fotified beverages should do. I think that if you keep your diet as close to natural as possible, organic fruits and veggies, you really can not go wrong. I would like to see a doctor who would even argue that a diet of only organic fruits and vegies and legumes and nuts could be bad for you. Id have to say he is a quack for sure. As for raising vegan kids, I may not be the best to ask. My dh eats chicken and insists on giving it to the kids too (ages 4 and 2). they have always eaten it in the past and when their daddy is having barbeque chicken, they want some too. <sigh> For what it is worth it is only once a week usually, sometimes less often than that. I am just hoping that the baby will never have a taste for meat or milk. I am sure that she wont. The 2 year old is a lot easier to feed as well, as he hasnt developed too many preferences yet. He will turn his nose up at some beans and tell me " no " and I will say " YES! " and he will open his mouth and find out that he loves them So, there is a lto of hope for him As for the 4 year old, i have to be a lot more creative. like baked beans for instance, I tell him that they are " cowboy beans " and he will eat them. Otherwise he will complain about it. He is coming along though. He will actually ask me for some chocolate 'silk where as before I would have to push him to drink a cup of the stuff. Not there is a light at the end of this tunnel, and it is not that of an oncoming train LOL as for pregnancies, well, the breathing really really worked with my last one, I felt almost NO pain, only like menstral cramps, but it was my 3rd baby, so I cant say for certain what it was. hth, Jo-Ann
