Guest guest
Hi everyone, Would anyone know of some vegan websites that have an extensive list of the protein in various foods, including vegetables/greens? I've only seen a couple of sites and they only listed the high-protein foods such as tofu, tvp, tsp, lentils, etc. I'm wanting to know the different amounts of protein in various foods so that I can calculate when meal planning, how much protein we are getting each day. I can live with much less protein than my dh, but for him, it's important that I make meals with enough protein or else he tends to snack too much on sugar and sweets. I'm going by the 0.4g per body weight calculation, and although this may be more than what some people even need, my dh is slim and doesn't gain weight easily, and also works 12 hr physical labour shifts, so he feels he needs more or at least that much. If I can include lots of protein in our diets, I think it will help him change over to the vegan/strict vegetarian (or whatever you want to label it! ;-) ) lifestyle. Thanks very much, Rhonda P.S. Don't worry, I am trying to incorporate more tofu into our diets since I'm aware that will help cover our protein requirements, but need listing for greens too, since lots of concentrated protein alone is not balanced and not a good thing! He does love my lentil burgers, probably because they are more balanced (with the grain/bun) and makes him feel more satisfied.
