Guest guest
Hi all, I'm trying with not much success to get my dh off his sugar addiction. I've read from some lists that Sucanat is a better replacement because it's the sugar before it's refined. Now, I haven't bought any yet, but I plan on getting some Sucanat for baking. My questions: 1) Where do I find this--health food store or in the regular grocery store? 2) Is it dry crystals like sugar? 3) Is it just as sweet or sweeter than sugar? 4) Do you have to make any adjustments to the recipe when substituting the Sucanat for refined white sugar? 5) Does is spoil or go bad quicker than refined sugar? 6) And...most importantly, is Sucanat really much healthier than regular sugar? I have learned that honey, maple syrup and brown rice syrup can be used as liquid substitutes, but are there any other granules like the refined white and brown sugars that can be used instead? Thanks very much, Rhonda
