Guest guest
I'm thinking about starting an egroup called something like the " HEALTHY ORGANIC VEGAN " ... Basically it will discuss the same stuff as this list, no animal rights stuff either but will be a bit deeper and for people that are really into the whole " health " aspect of veganism. This list is a bit too much into the " simple/lazy vegan " thing. I'm not an elitist in any sense but there's nothing healthy about pizza hut or subway and if it's healthier then what vegan's are cooking at home you're in dire straits! Drop me a line at backtotheearth if you'd be interested in this sort of group... PS, no disresepect to this group! Guest guest
In response to Roger from South Africa: The article was of potential interest to those of us concerned about the expansion of factory farming in Asia because arguments concerning animal welfare will not suffice in the political struggles against such installations. I posted the article for the information of those interested in learning more about one of the arguments that can be used concerning human health. As to the substance of the article in relation to Asia specifically, I refer you to a more scholarly piece by Robert Goodland (a scholar who just retired from the Wordl Bank). The link below leads to the pdf archive of his article concerning milk consumption in China. This is an extremely well referenced article which should provide all the evidence you need. http://www.globalhunger.net/GoodlandChina.pdf I won't go off topic to debate the prevalence of lactose intolerance in people of African descent. I will simply suggest that you examine the scientific evidence, as published by some of the scholars mentioned in the article, before dismissing their findings out of hand. pattrice
