in a couple weeks, i'm headed to Nashville to see a good friend. he's

not vegan, or even veg, but he's a tolerant, " try anything once " type.

I'll be there for four days total, and would like to come armed with

recipes and/or ingredients for some impress-the-carnivore kind of

recipes. He likes experimental cooking, and i think i could talk him

into taking me to Nashville's farmers market to hunt down funky new

ingredients, but i'd really like a good tried-and-true, " i can't believe

this is vegan! " meal or two to prove to him that we vegans do eat " real "

food. we do, don't we?! (he's a potential future life-mate, so i can't

screw this up!) oh, did i mention we're both on a budget?

additionally, if anyone has first-hand advice on restaurants in

Nashville, feel free to email me off list (clbogner). i've done

a lot of online searching, but i don't always trust restaurant reviews.

Cyd,

Hey I live

right close to Nashville, I  think the ribs my hubby makes are

pretty good in fact I bet they would fool meat lovers. I will have him type up

the recipe tonight, he is one of those cooks that just adds and adds, no real

recipe.

The only

place I really eat in Nashville is wild oats, they have a little

sit down place and play live music some nights, so its

kind of cool. They also have vegan food that I think will fool the best of

them, well if you would like contact me off list. Maybe we can meet up while

you are here, at least eat lunch at wild oats, my treat!   tammy

  ( I don’t live in Clarksville, I live about 40 miles south

west of Nashville)

yes, definitely send the ribs recipe!! if memory serves, they're made

with seitan, right? i've never fixed seitan, and only sampled it once.

fear of the unknown, i suppose <shrug> I'd thought of fixing him BBQ

tofu, but this sounds better!

Cyd,

Along with the farmers market here, you can shop at Sunshine Grocery or

Wild Oats Market (Sunshine more homey, Wild Oats pretty uptown

clientele...big deli and you may find something in there you could eat,

but $$$). There really are no vegetarian restaurants here so you have

to order off the menus, or pick and choose from them. It won't be

easy...this is a " meat and three " town <g>

Have a good time,

Sarah
