First off, on the SILK issue, I can say that this is complete BS! I've had

the pleasure of meeting and spending time with the owners of White Wave and

am extremely close with one of their immediate relatives. I've been to their

plant and spoken to them about their marketing and business relationships (I

do a lot of consulting). They started out as a small, home-based company

make tofu and selling it to the locals out in Colorado. Over the years

they've grown and have become a company with a strong presence not only in

most health food stores but even in most regular grocery stores. And yes,

they do have an alliance (not a backing) with a major dairy. They are

independently owned and are not a public company. And as far as using dairy

in their product, just think about what you are saying and implying. Do you

really think a company with their sales volume is going to risk loosing half

or greater of their consumers? It's rubbish that was, in my opinion,

probably fabricated by some competitor out there. And if anyone out there

for even a brief second thinks that most vegan foods are processed on

equipment strictly for " VEGAN FOODS " then you're being fooled. There are a

handful of companies out there that own their own processing equipment.

Trace particles of dairy are in just about every product on the market. All

major soymilk companies have their products processed on equipment used for

dairy. Sure, the machines are cleaned but trace particles are in the air

and there is always room for human error. The fact that Silk pulled a

product in Canada, if they in fact did (something I've never heard of), how

many companies would do that? I appreciate the post of this article but ask

people to do some research and think about the source of the document, the

writer and background... As a later 20something businessman I always hate

to hear people blindly accepting claims from internet based sources... I

hope that my current and future projects/endeavors can slide through without

any media hackery!

Thanks again for the post.

how come several times on this list in particular, i've either sent info or said something, everyone ignores it, then a few days later, someone posts it as if i never did.

Thanks so much for this post, Jeff: as a fairly new vegan, I absolutely rely

on Silk's Creamer for my coffee daily and cannot imagine having to switch!

I was so excited to find such a good substitute (ok, so I might have a

problem with coffee!) because this was my only real concern about going

veg-to-vegan. :) We all have our sticking points, ya know? Anyway, I'm

glad to hear something positive about Silk because I'm quite fond of many of

their products. Cheers.
