Guest guest
Here's a nice recipe for Thanksgiving! A nice side dish and nutritious too! Savory Wild Rice Source: What's Cooking in the Benton Sister's Kitchen Vol. 1 3 cups brown rice* 2 Tbsp. wild rice 6 cups water 2 Tbsp. parsley 2 Tbsp. basil 2 Tbsp. garlic 4 Tbsp. McKay's chicken style seasoning** 2 Tbsp. Italian seasoning 1/2 cup red bell pepper, diced 1/2 cup green bell pepper, diced 1/2 cup green onions, chopped 2 Tbsp. minced dry onions *Dextrinizing rice or whole grains improves the flavor and shortens cooking time. Brown rice may be dextrinized by heating it in a dry skillet over moderately high heat for 3 - 5 minutes. Stir constantly until golden brown. Add water and seasonings; cover and let boil 10 minutes. Simmer on low for 40 minutes, covered. Add last 4 ingredients; cook an additional 5 minutes or until bell peppers are crisp-tender. Do not overcook! **Use the vegan, no MSG version of McKay's. ***Studies show that brown rice that has been soaked in water for 24 hours begins the sprouting process and the nutritional benefits are greatly enhanced. ~ Pray for Peace ~http://www.Christian-Vegan-Cooking
