Guest guest Posted November 18, 2001 Report Share Posted November 18, 2001 Pecan Pie #7 From John Robbins " May All Be Fed - Diet for a New World " 1/2 cup pure maple syrup 1/4 cup barley malt syrup 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 tablespoon arrowroot powder 2 tablespoons raw tahini 2 1/2 cups pecan halves whole wheat pie dough: 1 1/2 cups whole wheat pastry flour 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt 1/2 cup plus 1 table spoon canola or safflower oil 3 tablespoons plus 1 1/2 teaspoons ice water Preheat oven to 350 degrees Line a 10 inch pie pan with the pie dough. With a fork, prick holes all over the bottom and sides of the pie shell. Bake until a light golden colour, 10-15 minutes. Let cool. Put the maple syrup, barley malt syrup, cinnamon, arrowroot, and tahini in a food processor and process until smooth. Add the pecans and pulse several times to coarsely chop the nuts.* Pour the filling into the baked pie shell. Bake until the folling is bubbly and the top is evenly browned, 25-30 minutes.
