Guest guest
I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has some recommendations for getting a large amount of protein without any soy products. My g/f has hypothyroidism and is in need of large amounts of protein, but is also unable to eat soy because of the thyroid issue. She is in a jam because she also doesn't want to eat animal products. Thanks in advance Jim

Guest guest
Hi Jim, My mom can't have soy and even though she's not a vegetarian, I look into foods and such for her health as if she was, since I am a vegan. Rice protein is a good alternative. It comes in powder form and I looked up the numbers for you: 100 grams gives you 386 calories, 39g carbs and 53g protein. 100mg calcium and a gram of fat. One of the best sources around is www.proteinfactory.com on their opening page click the tab and select rice protein and it will give you all the info. I have been using this company for over a year for other products and have never been let down. The owner is Alex. One thing about the rice protein is that I suggest you get a sample to see how you like it before ordering too large a supply. I say this because of the way it mixes as a homemade protein drink. It tends to be grainy. It doesn't bother me, but some people might not like the grainy feeling. You really have to blend it. But of course you can use it in soups, breads etc and get your protein increase that way too. Maybe a local store can give you a sample. As for the Protein Factory, they are a great source for pure, nothing added, bulk products. Hope this helps you some, David rovneyko
Guest guest
I have a jar of this rice protein stuff. Do you have any recommendations for how to cook with it? Sandra
