Guest guest
Thanks for posting the CDC warning. How depressing! I've heard of this before, though. Can't imagine how awful cooked alfalfa sprouts would taste!! I've heard that one can kill the bacteria in the seeds with a weak bleach solution. Does anyone know of a way to be able to enjoy raw sprouts safely? I have heard of food-poisoning from fruit & vegetable produce that has spoiled, but not from a regular sprout. [[Can't imagine how awful cooked alfalfa sprouts would taste!]] ** I have cooked with them before. They develop a stronger flavor but become stringy. [[i've heard that one can kill the bacteria in the seeds with a weak bleach solution. As such, I have never been ill from sprouting my own, nor am I willing to put them in a week bleach solution. (I do not buy commercial sprouts.) Afterall, the water used becomes part of the sprout, so I only use pure distilled water. Om Shanti ... Lalita Shakti
