Guest guest
I did try using the individual packets of flavored oatmeal to make the waffles. I have cinnamon & brown sugar. I used half the water called for on the packet and baked on the waffle iron around 10 minutes. They worked great! It makes a great snack instead of cookies, etc. I am anxious to try other flavors now. Again, many thanks for this idea!

Guest guest
Ah, actually, I didn't check if this is vegan or not. We somehow ended up with three boxes of it and I am the only one to eat oatmeal at all, and not the prepackaged kind, in general. I figured if this worked and I liked it, after I finished up this supply (I am more cheap than vegan), I would find a vegan brand/variety. It seems I have come across one at the market, but can't recall the name. Something Valley? I've found that a lot of the store brands don't contain milk products even when the Quaker version does. You just have to read labels carefully. We've gotten Baked Apple, Cinnamon Toast, Apples and Cinnamon, Maple Pecan, and even Carrot Cake flavors. (My daughter loves these for breakfast, can you tell? :-) Mixed with calcium-fortified rice milk, they're pretty nutritious.) Guest guest
I made this recipe this morning but it wasn't cooked all the way through. Did I maybe not let it cook long enough? They cooked for probably more than 5 minutes or are they kind of soft in the middle cause of the oats? Thanks for any help!
