I am basically a very boring and even lazier person. I have thought for a long time that I could probably eat the same thing all of the time. Our catsand dogs do. Of course, we don't know if they object or not, but.I heard a radio program this morning where the state prison in Maryland serves inmates with disciplinary problems a "management loaf". It is a very blandloaf made of what is said to be a nutritionally balanced recipe, if not that appetizing. The recipe doesn't look that great (www.npr.orgthen click on Weekend Edition for Saturday, April 6).Would anyone care to venture what would be a totally nutritionally balanced one-dish meal one could eat at least a couple of times a day and get all thevitamins and such? I would plan on supplementing it with snacks of fresh fruit as I do now.Just a challenge I would like to put to myself and to you to come up with something. I would definitely report on my progress. Many thanks!

what a funny post!

I often joke I could live off peanut butter, but I'm pretty sure I'd get tired

of it

pretty quickly without anything else.

my initial thought on the all-in-one, all-the-time meal was soup. a vegetable

soup-- or stew, really, if you throw in a vast variety of veggies like I do--

with pasta and beans, for the carbs and proteins, or baked tofu (you can buy it

already baked and seasoned. for my veggie stew, I use the tomato and basil

tofu) and brown rice. or a lentil soup with brown rice rice (for complete

protein) that has carrots, celery, onions, and tomatoes in it.

just my two cents!

sandra,

reading your post made me think of the granola we make every week (at least)!

from one of mollie katzen's cookbooks, I think it's " the enchanted broccoli

forrest " - the dry-roasted granola. this stuff is so amazingly good, the only

thing I do differently is to leave out the coconut sometimes, and always add

cinnamon. it's whole oats, nuts, wheat germ, seeds, and sweetener (I used

sucanat).

(but to come up with something you could hypothetically eat for every meal, I

was thinking of vitamin c, all the phyto-things in veggies, whole grains,

proteins, etc. a one-pot meal.)

Hmm. Let's put together a list of everything we need to include. Also, I

can't see narrowing it down to less than two kinds, since iron and calcium

really ought to be eaten separately.

Sandra, thinking, thinking.
