Guest guest Posted October 15, 2002 Report Share Posted October 15, 2002 Split-Pea Lentil Soup Source: NEWSTART 2 quarts water 1 cup dried lentils 1 cup dried split peas 1/2 cup barley grain 3 carrots, grated or chopped 1 large onion, chopped 2 tsp. salt 1 bay leaf Combine all ingredients in a large kettle and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer about 1 1/2 hours, or until barley is tender. Remove bay leaf before serving.
