Guest guest
Does anyone have a good recipe for Vegan empenadas. I'm seeing someone new & he's from the Dominican republic. We were at a media event last night, and he said empanadas are a traditional dominican dish. I've run a google search and hadn't really found anything appealing. I do want to make a good impression afterall. Megan
Guest guest
What exactly are empanadas? Are they those bananas wrapped in a pastry that are deep fried? I think I have had something like them at Philipino restaurants in Hawaii and they were quite good. ~ PT ~ Worry is interest paid on trouble before it comes due. ~William R. Guest guest
The empanadas I have tried, as far as I recall, were baked rather than deep fried. And although the ones I've had have been savoury - vegetable filling - I understand they can also be filled with fruit (maybe even bananas - why not!). They can be big, to share with others, or one-person size, or even all cute and tiny like cocktail food ;=) Love em. Would be delighted to have some recipes. best, pat sant > What exactly are empanadas? Are they those bananas > wrapped in a pastry that are deep fried? Guest guest
empanadas can be baked or deep fried. the way I understand it; traditional empanadas are filled with seasoned pork, chicken or beef fillings. & I wanted to find a nice vegetarian option to try.
