Guest guest
Hi, I'm new to veganism, and to this list, and firstly I want to thank you for being here. This is great. Secondly (and I apologize if this topic has been covered before, but I looked in the archives and could find no mention of it) there is a butter substitute I've read about called Smart Balance and I cannot figure out if it is vegan or not. I've read both that it is and that it isn't. Does anybody here know for sure? I've heard that you can use it in baking besides just spreading it on your bread. Also, while I'm on the topic, what are the best butter substitutes for baking and for other types of cooking, in people's opinions? By best I mean most useful and healthiest. Thank you, Aimmah
Guest guest
Hi! I use Earth Balance margarine. It's the best tasting margarine I've tried. It's less salty than most, which I like. Also, it contains no trans-fats. Shelly --- aimmahroo <Oliverbb wrote: > Hi, > I'm new to veganism, and to this list, and > firstly I want to > thank > you for being here. Guest guest
>>>Smart balance is NOT vegan since the package clearly states it contains whey . I know because I read it recently at the grocers . So true, but I believe that "Smart Balance" Lite is vegan. . .who knows. . .why did they make one vegan and one not? Confusing! Guest guest
Earth Balance is also one of the healthiest because it contains no transfatty acids or hydrogenated oils/fats...
