Guest guest
Hello! Well, first of all, I volunteered to make dinner tonight. I'm NOT much of a cook. Like, at all. So I figured, I'll make a tabbouli salad, some rice pilaf, and I found a recipe for something called Ayvar, which is a Yugoslavian dish made out of eggplant and red bell pepper. I figured it would turn out like a baba ganouj, but it's really more like a relish and I hate peppers anyways. So, revising the plan. Now the meal is 'basmati rice & lentil patties' [We have one bun left so I'm giving that to mum and putting mine on a pita] with a side of tabbouli salad, and rice pilaf. I'll let the others fight over the Ayvar cuz it's definatly not my cup of tea Anyways the thing with the Ayvar made me realize that I really am rather picky.... So uhhh.....What can I eat? For lunches and snacks, etc, for this summer. I'd like to have a peanut butter sandwhich once in awhile....Is storebought bread vegan? I'm thinking nuts, fruit, dried fruit, homemade granola, sliced raw veggies, popsicles, lemon date squares....What else is there? What do you guys snack on? Anyhow, gotta scamper....ciao! -Kayleen
Guest guest
YOu can read the packaging and usually find a whole grain (not enriched...that's not nutritious for you and even has been linked to health problems)...bread that is vegan...just be sure to read the ingredients...Hummus is really good for snacking...that on fresh tomatoes is super good... Guest guest
Have you ever tried sprouted tortillas? They are really, really good. I like to make sandwiches with them. With some spinach, tomatoes, roasted peppers, maybe a little avocado rolled up. Had one for lunch yesterday. And sprouted grain bread is also very good. " Food for Life " is the brand name I use for tortillas. Guest guest
What is in sprouted tortillas? I can't have anything with wheat or yeast. Rebecca
Guest guest
Hi Rebecca, Here are the ingredients for the sprouted tortillas: Organic sprouted wheat, filtered water, organic sesame seeds, organic sprouted soybeans, organic sprouted barley, organic sprouted millet, organic sprouted lentils, organic sprouted spelt, sea salt. They have wheat, so they won't be any good for you. However, if you're looking for wheat-free, yeast-free breads, try French Meadow Bakery. They have several varieties.
