Guest guest
K, here is the recipe for Ayvar [pronounced Eye-var]. The recipe is from Yugoslavia and I found it in a mediterranean [spelling?] cookbook. I dislike it but my girlfriend and father both enjoy it. Ayvar One red bell pepper one medium eggplant 1/3 cup olive oil 1 tablespoon ground cumin 1 tsp lemon juice 1 tsp basil Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil and put the veggies on the foil. PRICK THE EGGPLANT SO IT WON'T EXPLODE Bake veggies one hour. Remove from oven and allow to cool. Remove stems but not seeds. Put oil in food processor and add veggies. Process until there is a rough puree, adding more oil if necessary. Add remaining ingredients and blend well. Can be served on endive leaves or pita bread.
