Guest guest Posted June 12, 2003 Report Share Posted June 12, 2003 Baked Beans Source: Healthy Food Choices 2 cups dry white beans 1 tsp. salt 2 cups tomato sauce 2 cups sliced onions (steamed before adding to beans) 3 Tbsp. brown sugar or date butter (or maple syrup) 1 Tbsp. molasses 1 tsp. ground celery seed 1/4 tsp. ground cardamon Cook beans. Remember they won't get any softer after acidic ingredients are added. Stir in remaining ingredients. Pour into casserole. Bake covered at 300 degrees F. for about 2 hours. Uncover for the last part of the baking. *This recipe may be frozen for future use after baking.
