Once the package seal is broken, you only have a few days to consume it. This recipe isn't from the cook book you asked for but is pretty universal: Oakland Baked Beans 1 lb / 450 g great northern beans (soaked overnight) or use cans of beans that have been drained and rinsed 1 Tbsp sea salt 4 Tbsp oil 1 cup tomato sauce 3 Tbsp molasses 1 huge onion, slightly peeled but left whole 6 Tbsp maple syrup METHOD Simmer the beans in enough water to cover them, until tender. Drain off most of the liquid and mix all the ingredients in a big casserole dish, except the onion. Place the onion in the center, shoving it under the beans. Cover the dish with some tin foil and bake at 350F/180C for two hours, better 3-4 hours. Remove the onion before you serve. This is a good dish to serve with tofu pups or soy burgers.
