Guest guest
I have one " normal " question and one rather personal one. If people could answer it for me that would be great. 1. How much nutritional yeast do you consume in a day to meet B-12 needs? and 2. I've been eating a lot more raw and cooked fresh fruits and veggies and have notices a lot of vegetable matter in my bowel movements...is this something one should expect? I know that skins of some beans and veggies are insoluble fiber which means those parts will travel all the way through pretty much intact...so, I'm thinking it's ok...but I just wanted to check w/ everyone on their experiences upon adding these things to your diet...Sorry if I offend anyone by asking this question...I consider this topic a normal part of life, but I know a lot of people who get offended when body functions are brought up for conversation. Thanks!
Guest guest
On the yeast question, read the label. I rely on fortified soymilk for mine and when I make my own milk, I fortify it. Check the labels. Any B vitamins your body does not need, it will excrete. Now, as to your personal problem....this is not unusual at all. You may need to consider chewing your food more thoroughly, eat in less of a hurry. You may also want to alter some of the ways you eat things. How about mashed, creamy carrots with Earth Balance, salt and pepper? Or fruit smoothies? Remember that you are better off giving children nut butters rather than whole nuts, and bean spreads rather than whole beans because they can't get the good out of the whole food that they can out of the mashed variety. It be very honest with you, carrots are better for you cooked than raw and better asborbed mashed with some sort of fat with it because the vitamins are primarily fat-soluable in a carrot. You might read up on this. I always recommend Laurel's Kitchen for things like this. This is not unusual with leafy greens to come through recognizable, and other things we all know about :-). It is not uncommon to become protractedly constipated when adding lots more fiber to the diet, although you would think the reverse would be true. This sort of constipation is short lived. Don't let this problem scare you off of your present course, you ARE treating your body well. Guest guest
I bought the yeast from a bulk bin...I'll have to run to the store and copy down the nutrition info from the bin! Thanks for your answer on the other stuff...I'll pick up that book. Quoting The Lady Dragonfly <theladydragonfly: > On the yeast question, read the label.
