Guest guest
I have quite a few vegan cookbooks, but none of them are really great. I find recipes I create or modify to be vegan myself or take from vegetarian magazines are usually more successful. Does anyone have any favourite vegan cookbooks thye would recommend? Guest guest
I love the new book by Crescent Dragonwood and the more I research her work the more I like what I see. Also check out Deborah Madison. And the authors of when it all vegan they also have another book out which I can't remember the name of but the recipes are easy and straight forward. Good Luck, Stevie
Guest guest
I have a couple of dozen vegetarian cookbooks and by far the best is Nonna's Italian Kitchen by Bryanna Clark Grogan. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1570670552/qid=1063191469/sr=8-2/r\ ef=sr_8_2/103-3757758-4248605?v=glance & s=books & n=507846 For people just starting out on a vegetarian diet I recommend Linda McCartney's 'On Tour' as it is very easy, complete and has a good forward section on diet/nutrition, basic cooking techniques etc. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0821224875/qid=1063191527/sr=1-7/r\ ef=sr_1_7/103-3757758-4248605?v=glance & s=books --- theghostinthegirl <theghostinthegirl wrote: > I have quite a few vegan cookbooks, but none of them > are really > great. I have a cookbook called The Cookbook For People Who Love Animals and over the years I have used it to death.I understand the authors (who apparently belong to a vegan commune in Hawaii), have another one out called Incredibly Delicious, which I don't have but plan to get. I believe the authors go under the name Gentle World. Gloria
Guest guest
I have a great cookbook called World Vegetarian by Madhur Jaffrey. It's a BIG book (758 pages) and although some of her recipes use eggs, cheese, etc., there are plenty that don't use any dairy. Some great recipes from all over the world in it. Guest guest
Thanks for your suggestions. Of the books mentioned, I only have How it All Vegan, so I'll look into the other ones that are new to me.MorningGlory113 wrote: In a message dated 9/10/03 2:44:25 AM Pacific Daylight Time, theladydragonfly writes: I am rather fond of anything by Louise Hagler and I have several of them. Guest guest
I LIVE on hummus. I make my own because it's so easy. I found a new hummus recipe in a Cooking Light magazine. It uses black-eye peas and it is wonderful. I made it yesterday and have been digging into it constantly!! If anyone wants the recipe, let me know. Guest guest
My favorite vegan cookbook is called " Vegan Vittles " . I beleive it's by the same authors as the Uncheese Cookbook mentioned below. I've been reading it like a novel! ...Page by page, marking the pages " Oooh! I gotta try THAT! " =) There's a fantastic vegan beef stroganoff, I made it twice in the first week. Guest guest
I have How it All Vegan, but I don't like it that much. Many vegans really I've talked to love it, but I find a lot of the recipes boring or bland. I think a really good carrot cake I made one time came from that book though. And the recipes aren't complicated and don't require hard-to-find ingredients, so it has that in its favour.Rebecca Ulloa <livecompassionately wrote: Do you have "How it All Vegan?"theghostinthegirl <theghostinthegirl wrote: I have quite a few vegan cookbooks, but none of them are really great.
