I've got a 'must read' book, IMO, if you're trying to loose weight and are

on a vegan diet (which is the best diet to be on; and raw is even better).

It is called Eat to Live by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. See if you can check it out of

the library if you're not sure you want to buy it, but it is excellent! In

my first 3 days I lost 5 pounds and was never hungry! I ate a LOT, including

ice cream each day until it was gone (I am SO glad it's gone now)! I still

lost because, other than the ice cream, I followed a vegan (mostly raw) diet

very strictly, and " the more you eat, the more you lose " . Obviously, ice

cream is not good for you and is not part of the diet, but I'm just now

changing my lifestyle to vegan too. Old habits (food addictions) are hard to

break.

There are also some great recipes in the back of the book. He gives you a

7-day menu to follow and the recipes to go with them. Also remember that by

following a mostly raw vegan diet, you will not get much fat, but the fat

that you do get is the 'good' fat. So, don't worry if you eat a few too many

nuts, seeds, or avocados, just don't do it all the time! LOL

As far as other recipes, if you are online very much, there are lots of

sites that you can get free recipes from. I guess you could just look over

each recipe and decide for yourself if it is 'simple' or not. I prefer

simple, quick and easy too, so we do a lot of fresh fruit eaten whole,

salads and juicing. Here's some web sites to explore, but I can't remember

which ones have recipes and which ones don't. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

Hi!

I'll add a little head nod here too...raw is the easy and enlivening way

to go. I am no longer 100% as I was 3-4 yrs ago when I began- but still

mostly raw and really love it. It is a naturally abundant, intuitive

cleansing and energizing lifestyle. It does take some getting used to

though ;-)

I've never seen an overweight raw foodist...and I sometimes eat 5

avocados in a day- tons of raw nuts (sprouted), coconut

butter..etc...makes my skin soft but I gain no weight to speak of.

It's so much harder to keep a healthy weight on cooked foods. imo. They

are addictive. Raw foods get you in touch w/ hunger and fullness...it's

a much more " present " experience.

Love,

Elizabeth
