Guest guest
I just bought a jar of vegemite yesterday at an international foods market. Next to it was a jar of marmite which i was considering getting, but it was a tad more expensive than vegemite. My question: what exactly are the differences between the two besides the names? Guest guest
They are nearly the same thing, in my opinion. They are both yeast extracts. I prefer Vegemite because it is not as strong and has more " beefy " type of flavor. For a mock beef gravy, try this: http://recipes.vegweb.com/misc/4721.shtml It is my own recipe that is posted to vegweb.com. Guest guest
Supposedly Marmite is sweeter than Vegemite...Megan, can you please tell us how the goop tastes (Please please)??? I've always wanted to try the stuff. One of these days, I'll break down and shell out for a bottle of the gloopy gop. Where did the stuff originate..is it Aussie or a UK thang...er what? Guest guest
vegemite is definitely an oz thing not a uk thing. I should know cause alot of knac.com roomies are from oz. and btw oz is the cooler way of describing things than aussie cause they tell me that they communicate to each other with grunts and punches and lots of beer drinking lol stay cool, Dave pbf

Guest guest
Could be. All I know is my kiwi friend will not eat vegamite, but she loves marmite. I have never seen either item to buy and try,but she said usually our " yank palate " will at first find either one very odd and suggested I start out by eating toast with butter and nutritional yeast flakes. *lol* ~ PT ~ It is not always the same thing to be a good man and a good citizen. -Aristotle, philosopher (384-322 BCE) ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~> , " The Warrens " <BosBaby@t...> wrote: > As far as I know marmite is South African.. but hey i could be wrong.. > > Leandre
