Guest guest Posted January 28, 2004 Report Share Posted January 28, 2004 This is so good, especially if you like the rich flavor of nutritional yeast. I use whole wheat macaroni. VEGAN MACARONI & " CHEESE " 3 1/2 cup dry macaroni, cooked 1/4 cup margarine, melted 1/4 cup water 1/2 cup flour 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 2 tablespoons soy sauce 1 pinch tumeric 3 1/2 cups hot water 1 cup nutritional yeast 1/4 cup water In saucepan, mix margarine and first (1/4 cup) water. Add flour, salt, soy sauce, turmeric. Add the 3 1/2 cups hot water slowly, stirring as you go. Simmer, stirring often to avoid lumps, until it starts becoming thick. Remove from heat, stir in 1/4 cup water and nutritional yeast. Mix in macaroni. Put in greased casserole dish. Sprinkle with paprika. Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
