Guest guest
Hey guys I have been lurking here getting ideas about basic recipes and haven't been posting but now I think I will. I need to contribute. I don’t have a recipe for a dish but thought I would share my recipe for surviving as a vegetarian and now slowly so slowly switch to vegan. Carbs, carbohydrates are very good for you, without them your brain won’t function. You need 500 calories a day from carbohydrates. Complex Carbohydrates from Oats and other grains as well as fresh fruits and vegetables is LIFE! Simple carbohydrates from refined food sources such as white floor and potatoes, ie wonder bread and potato chips is DEATH. I have also discovered that there are 9 essential amino acids that are required to make a protein chain. However you don’t have to eat the 9 all at the same time. If you have some brown rice in one meal and then beans in the other meal, my body will assimilate them into protein. Isn’t nature wonderful! I like to make a bean salad dish with brown rice mixed into the recipe. Makes a wonderful dish hot or cold and high in protein from food combination. There are religions where eating meat is prohibited, billions of people live entirely off a vegan diet. There are also some really great vegan protein powders to supplement if you are working out with heavy weights and really trying to build bulk. When I start craving potato chips it’s usually because my body is lacking a carrier oil such as flax seed oil. My body used to use animal fat as this carrier oil now that I am vegetarian I need to replace this with a carrier oil. Very important for getting the Vitamin B’s to the cells and cleansing out the cells. Sometimes I will also crave bloody steaks when I am running low on iron and B vitamins. However I can get more than my daily allowance by eating some flax seed oil, which allows my body to uptake the vitamins. Also very important, vitamin C helps the body uptake iron. There is plenty of iron in grains. Eating nuts, pumpkin and sunflower, and avocado’s is a great source for natural oils that your body needs. Craving sugar, enzyme tablets have helped me with this to some degree, also doing a parasite cleanse is suggested if you’re craving high amounts of sugar and iron. I hate to talk bad about people, but Atkins always seemed a little mean in interviews and wasn't what I would call a thin man. I hope this has helped anyone new and if I got my information wrong in any area please feel free to correct me. I am still learning. Well I am off to yoga! Here is a great link to a macrobiotic site that may explain complex carbohydrates better than I did. Also do a search on complex carbohydrates. http://www.macrobioticcooking.com/ SiteBuilder - Free web site building tool. Guest guest
Craving sugar, enzyme tablets have helped me with this to some degree, also doing a parasite cleanse is suggested if you're craving high amounts of sugar and iron. Could you talk a little more about this or maybe have some pointers to info. This is my main issue of weight control, good health, and even adhering to a vegan diet, as so many of the sugary convenience snacks are not vegan, let alone all the other things they are not. I haven't had the opportunity to read it yet, but my understanding of Neal Barnard's latest book is he contends sugar is physically addicting and you can break the addiction cold turkey (so to speak) in a couple of weeks. I'm not sure if he talks about anything missing in the diet that causes the cravings. Thanks for your input! Eric
